Build a Better Vayne?

Belligera·2/4/2015, 9:31:36 PM·1 votes·830 views

I'm not like, a total noob at LoL, I'm just new to the more serious competitors, so now that I'm getting closer to lvl 30 (sorta) I want to eventually play ranked, but the chances of of me being any good at it are pretty slim. I mid mainly, but I'm trying to get decent at all the other positions just for variety's sake, and ADC is giving me trouble. My best ADC is Vayne and I love her to tears, but I keep getting squished in my early game and can't build fast enough to be the unstoppable murder machine I know she can be. So any suggestions? Build, playstyles, anything pleaseeee. Even simple stuff. Also this is my first post so just ask me if I've left anything out. Thx.

She's not that bad in lane... she's the best adc for punishing your enemy's mistakes. vayne's key ability is her stun, master it and you shall gain enlightenment

If you get jungler ganks early and you get ahead it is VERY hard to stop you from carrying. get good at kiting (Google it if you don't know what that means). and practice using your stealth with your R.

If you're an amateur vayne player, i recommend playing a passive farm laning phase until you hit lvl 6 and waiting for your support to initiate the aggressive trades/fights. Vayne is an ADC heavily reliant on items to deal dmg and her early game is the weakest part about her so doing this gives you a smooth transition into mid game. Vayne's laning phase isn't bad if you know how to take smart trades but if you're a new vayne player, its more important that you survive laning phase and get to mid game because she has great late game scaling.

Regarding builds: Blade of the Ruined -> Static Shiv/ PD -> IE -> LW is the most standard and safest build path on her. As you get better with her, you can integrate yomuu's ghostblade right after botrk because it gives a bigger power spike than SS/PD.

As for general playstyle tips:

  1. Vayne's tumble acts similar to an autoattack reset; autoattacking and immediately tumbling will cause your autoattack to refresh sooner. Standard combos: aa -> tumble -> aa , aa -> tumble -> aa -> condemn
  2. Try to proc your silver bolts. Doing so allows vayne to have better trades against alot of the match-ups. Her dmg mid-late game depends on proc-ing those silver bolts.
  3. When the enemy right next to a wall, try to condemn him into the wall. You can get good trades off if you can get a wall condemn since it deals extra dmg and stuns the enemy for 1.5 seconds.
  4. With vayne's ult, you want to use it when you are going to fight or see opportunities for kills. It grants you incredible extra movement speed if you're chasing down enemies.
  5. Any good vayne player has good positioning and kiting. Master these two mechanics as it is a MUST.
  6. Pick your fights wisely. This is something you will learn over time as you gain more experience with the champion. Not every fight is favorable or winnable for vayne so sometimes, you may have to avoid them so you don't fall further behind.

Just focus on not feeding for the first 15 minutes of the game. Get as much CS as you safely can.

Vayne is actually a fairly good laner if you're good with her, but it takes a lot of game knowledge and experience to know what you can get away with... I recommend that you try being overly aggressive in normal games just to see what you can get away with... you'll probably feed sometimes because of this but you'll also get away with more than you'd expect, and that's really the best way to learn what a champ is capable of IMO

item 3153 item 3006 are your core items, once you get these you'll be fairly strong

A useful combo in lane is auto attack> auto attack> E to get a quick silver bolts proc off and it pushes them away so they can't get much of a counter attack.

Well I got a couple tips not a whole lot like these guys xD. A lot of times in lane if you start a trade/enemy starts a trade you will lose initially, but end up winning overall if you get the 3rd auto proc off. In team fights you can play Vayne like an assassin, ulting and tumbling into the fight after it has started and the enemy has blown some of their key abilities. This can be very easy cleanup and make it hard for anyone to focus you.

Vayne is known for having a weaker early game, but in the right situation you can start dominating immediately. I always test my opponent by going in for small trades to see their mechanics/how they react early on.

Use tumble to reposition yourself for a condem into the wall.

Finally, don't be afraid to stand in the back of team fights and hit whoever you can auto for free without being focused

  1. Get good at orbwalking, it's absolutely crucial on ADCs, and more so than most on Vayne.

  2. Blade of the Ruined King is your friend on Vayne.

  3. Let your support pick your fights in lane. Most ADC/Mid mains have massive egos and end up dying a ton because of it. Focus on out-farming your lane opponent, and let your support/jungler make the call for when to go in on a fight in lane phase. You'll die less, your support/jungler won't think you're a greedy moron, and you'll net more kills and gold.

  4. Last hitting is one of the most important aspects of the game, and it's more important (imo) on ADCs than any other class, especially when playing a lategame hypercarry like Vayne. Your primary focus should be on killing as many minions as you can. That said, ignoring teamfights, oppurtunities for dragon, engages from your support or ganks from your jungler for a couple minions will not only make you the most hated person on your team, it'll also make you lose and look like an idiot.

  5. In case you don't know, the usual pattern for killing minions under your tower is 2 tower shots -> 1 autoattack to kill a melee minion, and 1 autoattack -> 1 tower shot -> 1 autoattack for caster minions. Last hitting under tower can be difficult, but if you can master it you'll be much better off than the average newly-30 player.

  6. Vayne's super squishy early game, the chances of you winning the early fights in lane without a gank from your jungler or a major fuckup from their side are pretty slim. Keep that in mind and focus on eating as little harassment as possible, as well as being aware of potential enemy engages/ganks.
