Help me find my new Top Laner

So I have really been enjoying darius, Garen and volibear playing solo top. I enjoy them because they can all build tanky and still be capable to do some damage. Of course you can build many champions tanky and still do damage, but i am curious to find another champ to play that can take some punishment but still chunk through a team. I like the playstyle of these three because they all have good damage but also come with utility. Darius has his pull, garen on his cc break and silence and volibear on his slow and throw. I am a support main and have based my playstyle up top on utility to lead to outplaying enemies.

Because of my limited knowledge on the mass of champions in this game, could anyone suggest a champion that fits a similar playstyle or profile to that of darius, garen and volibear?

thanks, GLHFDarius Garen Volibear

Sejuani is really fun top, and oftentimes totally unexpected. Slap some Movespeed Quints on her and you can start roaming early, too! After her slight buffs, she a good pick for top (if not a tad OP in many cases - don't say that too loud, tho!). I've gotten numerous triples and a couple quadras playing her top - she's pretty easy to get fed (with a few ganks) and she's very useful, overall, to the team.

Alternative choices: DrMundo Pretty easy build, pretty fun to play, next to impossible to kill if you get even a little feed. Maokai Very fun to play, very tanky potential while still being able to dish some steady damage. Only major con is his mana costs - very intensive. Malphite Tanky, decent sustain, great team potential/team utility, matches your playstyle, I'd say. Singed SUPER fun to play. Pretty easy to learn but has a fairly high skill ceiling (many will argue, but trust me). I've had a lot of experience on Singed - I've won against duotops, and won numerous 3v1s as Singed, just need a lot of practice. Can be built supertank or AP damage. Iterating: SUPER FUN. Sion Matches your tank/damage style. His W lets you get HP just for killing things - what fun :P Tons of utility: Slow, (aoe) knockup, shield, a semi-global ult that makes him faster than Rammus, passive that lets you come back after dying briefly with insane damage...pretty fun overall.

ALTERNATIVE OPTION TO CONSIDER: Quinn Now, this isn't your playstyle listed, but I main Quinn top and it's highly viable/successful. Takes a little while to get used to, BUT, she has a really additictively fun kit to play, great carry potential (hypercarry, sometimes - I've went 18/0/15 with her top), and amazing post 6 roaming potential. You can solo drag for your team, and can get across the map to that teamfight after you just splitpushed another lane in almost no time.

Gangplank Tankplank Is great fun. Nasus Nassus is classic, and his stack farming feels so rewarding DrMundo Full Magic Pen and cleavers for days... Urgot Yeah, Urgot. His passive mitigates damage, and with his shield/dot/poke, he can bring a decent amount of utility to the table. WARNING: He has no ult. like, at all. Vladimir Vlad top is the most fun I've had all week. Infinite poke/sustain, a troll pool, and aoe waveclear. He is great at farming, but really needs a item 3116 for any kind of utility. Singed This guy is fun. He just runs around and stuff dies, plus he has a massive area slow/root, and he can literally catch fleeing enemies and slam them on the ground. Sion He does loads of damage, farms HP for free, and he can shoot minions really far. Also, he has an ult that always misses, but you don't mind because it's really funny to watch.

Chogath He is really good against combo based champions like Zed, LB, Brand, Riven, Poppy assuming you reached team fight stage at good shape. He is pretty bad against ranged match ups but Pantheon is not one of them, also bad against mobile or basic attack reliant teams, but worth the try. Hecarim You need a specific rune page with him (AD or armorpen with MS) You don't have to win the lane with him, just don't lose too much, get some points into his Q and you are still in good shape to fight. He brings really good engagement for himself, but not much lock down, however you need to lern basic attack animation canceling properly, if you want to be good with him.

Awesome, thanks to all who replied. I will try the champs out and hopefully find a new top:)

Rengar They say he's "better" in the jungle, but he'll actually get fed up in top, if you play him right.

There's a lack of Teemo ITT. Shrooms for everyone

Rumble is possibly the best teamfighter in the game with his ultimate. Shen is a longtime favorite of mine and Riot has been slightly buffing him recently (HELLOOOOO VOID GATE!)

Maybe Maokai

Rek'sai? Great roam potential, strong waveclear,, decent dueling and poke.

I'm also a great fan of aforementioned Top-plank

Just thinking off the top of my head renekton can be built bruiser, mostly tank, or full tank and deal good damage all the way until the late game where he falls off, also nasus not good early game but you can build full tank and still deal huge damage late if you can farm your q enough.

If you're a support main try giving top lane Thresh a go. Think along the same lines as Nasus where you stall and farm the whole beginning of the game until you have enough stacks on your souls to be strong enough to trade. Whether you build mostly damage or mostly defense, your soul farming will give you both stats, and the extra damage from a max flay AA is incredible.

chogath, sejuani and hecarim have a laning that is a bit in the same flavour as volibear.

nasus, olaf and renekton are fun champs to play too :)

I really think Trundle is a very underrated top lane champ, he is heavy anti ad so he counters most top laners out there, and the build i use for him which i believe is still the most common one is botrk, sunfire, spirit visage, then whatever you need..

when you go into a teamfight you can soften their tank with your ult, stealing their mr and armor, and use your q to steal ad from either a bruiser that is in your teams face, or chase down their adc with your w and either zone or kill them, and cant forget the pillar, which is very useful in a lot of situations
