who to buy?

i have 6300 ip to spend on a champion. I liked Viktor before the rework. I liked him in the games a friend let me play on their account after the rework. I've wanted to buy him for a while, but i don't know if i should buy him now or wait until after he's free. Can anyone help with info on who counters him? If my only other mid champion is countered by the same champions, Viktor might not be the best purchase. I have Malzahar, Darius (rarely use him anymore), Fiora (rarely used), Maokai, corki, twitch, and janna. I was also debating buying Thresh. Feel free to post suggestions of other champions and why/why not to buy X champion

based on the lack of responses so far, i'm guessing viktor is more off-meta than i thought. on an unrelated note, what is the max % damage ap varus can do with a 3 blight stack proc?

if you are in bronze buy thresh i went from 80 lp to my promos by playing thresh support he is an all skillshot based champion those are like the easiest champions to play (skillshots are the only thing in league that i can just log on and start doing without needing to get a feel for even if it's my first time with a champion skillshots never fail me) but i hear that some people consider all skill shots bad

My brother mains Viktor and earnestly suggests that you try him out. So, I guess that's something to take into consideration.

Ultimately, unless you're in high diamond/master, you should just stick with the champions you enjoy playing and fit you well. If Viktor fits that description, then by all means, go for it. It's kinda hard to walk in and tell somebody else who they'd have the best time playing without any sort of context.

Twisted Fate is an amazing mid laner. He is very good and can be used in any ELO :D

I would recommend blitzcrank he is an amazing support champion and can get kills when you need him. He is a tank and support which is the perfect combo!

I'm unranked as well. Usually just playing normals, mostly against silvers. I haven't lost lane as Viktor once. He's pretty safe and once you augment his e, his wave clear can't be matched by any of the common mids now, except Ziggs, who counters Viktor anyway.

The ones you have to look out for are those who are good at harassing from a distance: Syndra, Oriana, Lux, etc.

With Katarina and Akali growing more and more popular (it seems) Viktor is a pretty good choice.
