Looking for advice from gold + adc's on the best way to play in a lane with janna as your support.

Alright so, I find it very difficult to play with a Janna support in my lane. I'm honestly not sure why.

I'm not sure if it stems from the type of support she is, or if it stems from how almost every janna I see plays completely different. I'm open to any theories of why I'm having such a hard time whenever I lane with a janna. I appreciate any responses.

If it helps, I play alot of vayne, jinx, twitch, and tristana.

Sometimes Janna will shield to protect you. Other times she'll shield you during animation like if you're casting a Caitlyn Q. You'll know if she does this, she knows what she's doing.

If she seems lost then just use her shield. Go trade.

Plat Janna main here.

Everyone plays every champ differently, but the main thing if you play with her is to know when she is strictly trying to protect you and when she is trying to help you be aggressive. The biggest mistake I see ADCs doing is do absolutely nothing but farm when they move towards the enemies and receive my shield - I just gave you a huge amount of AD and a protective shield, use it to poke and win a quick trade. Her Q and R can also be confusing in that they can be 100% "GET THE FUCK OUT BRO" or they can be used to displace the enemies to help you fight on (while healing you if she's ulting).

I am not gold or higher but i can tell you exactly why you have a hard time in lane with janna. That's because she is a bad champion for lane. She has no dmg to back you up or any sort of hard cc. Her abilities are teamfight oriented. The movement speed bonus, the shields, the knockup the healing ult. She is an engage and disengage support that people need good communication with in order to be successful. You need tk know when she is about to do something in order to play around her.

You best odds is to farm the lane safely and wait till team fights come to shine. For example i hate it when i play Annie sup and my team doesnt know when to to expect my stuns and they leave me alone to die when we could have an easy fight because of my burst and stun. Some champions require good communication with your allies in order to work out successfully and janna is one of those.

I see you have not manyr eplies, so even if i am only a support ( not gold but i am in promo! :P ) that plays as leona my main worry is that i engage, she disengages and with her slow she slows our retreat, while with the shield with a poke carry she can peel my adc.

Just keep the Q as last resort and never as engage unless ther eis a very strict case and you should be ok for a bit

Use shield for damage, not for the shielding effect. When the shield is on you, do small trades and you'll eventually win the trades. Do not do this if the enemy has a soraka support.
