Did Anyone Else Forget That Malzahar Is A Champion?

Malzahar, for those of you who don't know, is a floating purple guy who poops bugs and reminds me vaguely of Aladdin. He has a scarf, mainly goes midlane, and builds AP. Oh, and he's also OP as hell.

I would just like to take a minute to let you guys know why Malzahar is Perma-Ban for me, along with Rek'Sai (But we'll save her for another day)

Let's just go down the list: Abilities Gameplay Build

Abilities:

Malzahar's Passive: Summon Voidling

On every fourth ability use, Malzahar summons a Voidling that remains on the field until it is killed or 21 seconds have passed. If Malzahar dies, the Voidling stays behind but stops attacking.

Voidlings Grow after 7 seconds (+50% Damage/Armor), and Frenzy after 14 seconds (+100% Attack Speed).

There is nothing wrong with this ability. I don't find any problem with this, unless said Malzahar is playing AD Malzahar on URF mode.

Malzhar's Q: Call of the Void

Malzahar opens up two portals to the Void. After a short delay, they fire projectiles that deal Magic Damage and silence enemy champions.

It also shreds anything in it's path. At this ability's max level, the silence lasts 3 seconds. . . WTF Rito? Not only does it cause your champion to go mute, it deals hella damage with it's 80% AP Scaling. Just don't get caught in this ability.

Malzahar's W: Null Zone

Malzahar creates a 250-radius zone of negative energy for 5 seconds. Enemies that stand in the zone take magic damage every second equal to a percentage of their maximum health (capped at 120 to monsters and minions).

Although not a horrifying ability on it's own, if used correctly, it can zone your lane opponent to dominate lane and when combined with Malzahar's ultimate ability and E, it will shred anyone that is unluckily standing on this little purple circle.

Malzahar's E: Malefic Visions

Infects target enemy's mind, dealing magic damage every 0.5 seconds for a total of 4 seconds.

If the target dies during this time, the target passes Malefic Visions to the closest enemy, refreshing the duration and restoring mana to Malzahar. Malzahar's Voidling's are attracted to these units.

This is the worst of his abilities. Safe farm, poke, incredible sustain tool. Like it says, if the affected enemy dies, it passes on to the next, like a congenital heart disorder... This can take out an entire minion wave plus damage a champion while Malzahar is just chillin' by turret laughing at the other mid-laner struggling to keep up.

Malzahar's R: Nether Grasp

Malzahar channels an engulfing void of energy for up to 2.5 seconds, suppressing and dealing magic damage to a target enemy champion every 0.5 seconds while the channel holds.

This is the finisher. Again, alone, this ability isn't something to write home about, but it's the combination of his W and E that make this ability effective. There's no way to stop this once you've been caught (unless you have Cleanse which, to be honest, no one even knows that it's a summoner spell anymore).

Gameplay:

Malzahar typically sits in the back and puts his spells on whoever he wants until he can target one little weakling out of the group to melt like a popsicle, but his build allows him to be able to take some damage if he needs to. Malzahar's combo typically goes like so:

Q: Call of the Void
E: Malefic Visions
W: Null Zone
R: Nether Grasp
Open 5th savings account for all this bank he's making from all these kills

In lane, Malzahar can put his E: Malefic Visions on a minion close to death and just watch the gold rack up as it hops from minion to minion as each one dies. Malzahar can sit back and away from danger thanks to his E. In a teamfight, Malz will just put his E on a squishy and start throwing out Qs hoping to hit something and proc his E hop.

Build:

What the hell? "First, let's give Malz some massive AP Scaling and his own minions to tank turret shots for him. But wait, let's also give him the tankiest AP item in the game that still allows you to do insane damage. He couldn't be broken at all! I brought the duct tape..." Having this item really allows Malz to get down and dirty with Melee Mid-Laners, and have a sort of meat shield for when the gank comes through.

The rest of his build is pretty standard AP Caster build... Nothing special there.

Malzahar... Where the hell did you come from? I was happily winning my games and then people started to play you. Now I have a full beard and my fingernails are crusty because I want revenge. I want out of Bronze II. So many people don't believe me that you are turning into a monster. You've become the next Sejuani, where you've been OP the whole time, but people just didn't know you existed. I guess Ezreal went on an expedition and uncovered you and brought you into the meta. What the hell Ezreal?

Roa is not needed imo. Get a couple dorans rings and get haunting. As for the mana, shouldn't ever be an issue if you last hitting creeps that have e on them.

Also, you can mitigate a lot of his usefulness by hard CCing or silencing him to break his ult. Even with RoA he's still pretty squishy, and he has to lock himself down for his ult to grab a kill, so he's really vulnerable while he channels it.

Even the casters do nothing but make fun of Malzahar even when he is picked in the LCS.

BTW: He one of my favorite and most played champ.

malzahar was bad in the burst meta 2 years ago. But now they nerfed everything (lichbane ap ratio, deathfire grasp), and malzahar is the only champ that can 100-0 a champ. malzahar will get nerfed, quote me for truth, it's way too op currently.

oh yeah, malzahar that immobile mage who can get cc'd out of his ult, literally has to STAND STILL to cast his ult and can't get anywhere near the opposing team's backline since he again has zero mobility.

Malzahar has 1 thing over the other usless aps like Brand and Lux, and that is he actually has damage. Lots of it. Still he is a sitting duck who is close to useless in 80% of the games.

Neither lux or Brand are useless. They are just not meta. Brand has a ton of burst and actually wins lane against Malz. I use as a counter pick. As far as lux goes, I think if riot makes one change to her cd's or mana costs and suddenly she will be in the lcs.

They are both useless.. High manacosts, 0 mobility , hard to apply cc/soft cc (both of them are really conditional) abysmal cooldowns and really REALLY vulnerable laning phases. To top it off neither of them have good damage.

Look at Azir , he IS a mage who deals absolutely ludicrous damage with 24/7 upward cooldowns and has shitton useful utility with a much better and safer laning phase and actual scalings on his stuff. Or the reworked Cassio. I won't even start on her.

No dude just don't. I'm tired of this idiotic silver and bronze logic. Brand doesn't have good damage. His damage is alraedy lower than the "meta" champions and to top it off he is a lot more riskier to run due to his shit base ms and 0 mobility. The only 5 oldschool immobile champs who actually has realitve damage-immobility ratio are Anivia Karthus Xerath Annie Malzahar rest borderline suck.

I am sure your disrespectful response is going to make a lot of bronzies happy, however you are still speaking of opinion and are wrong for the most part. first of all, Brand not not really have that high of mana costs and is easily manageable, not to meantion he is a control mage and has huge burst in lane. Lux especially does not have that bad of a laning phase as you are making out and is fairly safe, she simply does not do what other "Meta" picks can do right now in terms of usefulness. Brand is often played at high ELO by diamond and challenger players (when a pick of the month is not being played by everyone. IE Urgot, Talon for example.) Sure, maybe not the best pick compared to champs like LB, but people not bias as fuck and stuck in a dumb opinion of the meta based around competitive play know that Brand is actually pretty good for solo queue since he can abuse an enemy in lane pretty hard, just needs a little love from riot to finally be in the right place competitively.

No dude, just don't. I am tired of opinions and bias point of views from scrubs who have nothing positive to say, and try to tell players higher ranked than themselves that they have bronze opinions because they point out the advantages of a champ rather than focusing on the weaknesses which can be avoided by proper play. If you look at everything in terms of mobility, you already made a mistake. I mean, who isn't going to be warding?

I know a diamond player who plays a lot of Lux, despite me having no skill on that champ. Doesn't mean she is bad just cuz I can't play her. Clearly he knows what he is doing with her. same goes for every Azir player. Personally feel like Azir is a garbage champ, but some people prove me wrong, so idc.
