Bard's Summoner Spells and Trinkets
So I’ve been wondering this since being introduced to the roaming support: what kind of Trinkets and summoner spells do you give Bard? So I carefully went through the lists and tried to come up with reasons to select each one. I would ask you, fellow summoner, to tell me how ridiculous, or GENIUS, my ideas are.
Summoner Spells
Flash: Everybody has Flash! Give it to Bard! Of course, some could make an argument otherwise, considering Magical Journey can send you four times as far with a shorter cooldown. You just need terrain. Enemies can follow you too... Never mind.
Heal: Bard already has a heal, so you don’t necessarily need this, but it takes a moment to charge, it’s hard to heal yourself, and enemies can stop that one. You can argue quite strongly for heal on a bard that’s good on running in and out at a moment’s notice, heroically saving allies and escaping certain death (which you will certainly encounter with your intense roaming). Of course, the latter applies also to the next entry.
Barrier: You are roaming a lot, and will face enemies that are made to kill you regularly. Namely, the enemy jungler. This leads to an intense need to defend yourself, especially at early levels. Of course, Barrier isn’t as good as Heal at helping allies, but you also have your shrines. You could argue about the two all day, but it’s up to personal preference
Exhaust: This is a classic support spell, and is not necessarily lost in it’s utility on Bard. It’s a secondary disable for any ganks you’ll run, and also provides bonus damage for your low offensive capabilities. Pretty good.
Ghost: You run fast. THis makes escapes better, increases mobility, helps grab Meeps while under duress, helps you run to save people without the enemy necessarily realizing. Kind of good? I don’t know.
Clarity: I’m sure you’ll be casting a lot of spells, though I suppose if you get a high enough mana regen you don’t need to bother because your spells are low enough cost and have high enough cooldown that it won’t matter.
Cleanse: As a hero that focuses on mobility and roaming, who may get caught often, Cleansing can help assist in escapes well. You may just build
quicksilver sassh though. As a side note, maybe cleanse can counter the newest amazing disable Tempered Fate? Maybe not...
{{summoner:17}} Garrison: Great for Dominion Bard! Is Dominion Bard amazing? Do you play Dominion? How many capital letters are in this section?
Teleport: This provides amazing mobility, allowing you to run ganks at a moment. Bard combos more with this than you think, teleporting unseen to an allied ward behind a wall, then Magically Journeying through a wall into the lane, teleporting greedily to any meeps, and generally upping his ability to try to be everywhere at once.
Smite: Behold, the REAL Bard: INVADE BARD! Magical Journey in, kill everything, Flash out! Heheh, okay, have fun with that one guys.
Ignite: You know what, if you get a TON of meeps, maybe you can just kill everyone with your slow/stun, Ignite and chase with Magical Journey. Good luck, have fun.
{{summoner:2}} Clairvoyance: You need to know where the enemy jungler is or is not. You do not want to run into him, he will kill you. Of course, maybe you get the trinket.
Trinkets
Scrying Orb: maybe you want to get this instead of clairvoyance to free up a summoner spell slot, but the cooldown is longer with less of a vision boost, and since you need to use it a lot, it’s just not as good as the spell.
Warding Totem: Don’t face check the bush, but do help a person in lane by providing lasting vision, and cover your trail with vision.
Sweeping Lens: I believe this to be the trinket you want. You don’t want the enemy to see you, and you can get gold from the wards, and you’re doing so much counter-warding (hopefully) that the enemies see nothing. The only other time you see the enemy wards in the time in the early game you see a lot of enemy wards is when you have the raptor buff. Please, just don’t take invade Bard seriously. Optimally, I believe, you have sweeping lens always, but some other people will want the totem and change to lens later
So, what do you believe? As a more experienced Summoner, what would you select for your summoner spells and trinkets? Let me know and tell me why, please.
But wait! Poro Toss is a summoner Spell! ![]()
