How do I ADC with Caitlyn?

I haven't played ADC in a while(Since I'm a Mid main.) and I want to try to ADC again. I tried to 1v1 a Vayne with Caitlyn testing my luck, but she killed me leaving her with about 1/3 hp. How do I ADC with Cait? Caitlyn

Use your range. Use bushes to prob your passive faster. I don't jump all in when I play her, I poke down poke down, then just ult if they try to run away.

Caitlyn is a harass from her vastly superior range ADC. If a vayne ever tries to all in you, you E away, wait for her to go uninvisible, throw out a Q. She'll probably back off, but if she doesn't, auto-attack while making sure you're out of her range. In a little while you'll have an opportunity to Q+headshot+ult, and she's dead.

^ Like he said. Stay away from your enemies. The only person you should have trouble kiting is Tristana, and that's only at higher levels. I personally build crit and a small amount of attack speed(1 or 2 items should do you good). Hit people with your Q and use your traps in specific locations where people FIRST step into bushes. They don't ward the bushes, but reveal anyone who steps on them. Once they have about half HP, you can engage if you have someone with you. I don't play Caitlyn often, but I am an ADC main and do fight her on many accounts.

Cait has the longest standard-auto-attack range in the game,so you can safely poke your enemy from time to time. However keep in mind that other champs might have skill shots that can still hit you from a distance(or they could just jump at you),so watch out for those(if your enemy just wasted his/her long range skill, then that is a good chance to poke him, since he can't counterattack)

The moment your passive comes up you'll have to think if you want to hit your enemy with it to increase the pressure on them or if you use it to get that last hit on a minion. Both can be valuable options depending on the situation,I'd usually go for the poke unless it is too risky.

Her W is also an important tool, you can use it to secure bushes, like you can put it into the river bush,in which case there is a really good chance the enemy jungler will run into it when going into this bush,or put it into one of the lane bushes to catch your opponents off guard. If I remember correctly the W also gives you vision the moment you place it,so you can use it to check bushes(however I am not sure anymore since it has been some time that I played her).

Her E is a pretty good escape tool, just don't try to chase someone by firing a net at them(although it is awesome if you manage to kill your enemy with the net xD)

Her built is in my opionion rather standard for an adc, stuff like item 3031 item 3072 &item 3046 are valiable choices on her,but thanks to her passive she also benefits a bit more from attack speed items and especially from item 3085 (not sure if that makes runaans really worth it,but it is a good tool if you get behind a bit,as it helps getting more gold and also to clear your lanes). And I like getting Blood thirster rather early as it shield makes it even easier for you to poke and since it helps to stay alive, but that might be because I like to play safe anyway.

Pre 6 -

Lead every exchange with a passive shot. Auto a couple of times then dump q into them. Then back off before they can turn and fight. Save your net for that just in case they get too close.

If they're at half health, passive shot, auto, auto EQ combo is a kill.

Post 6,

Little changes. If you played pre 6 well, and got 2-3 kills and IE either done or MOST of the way completed, You should aim to passive shot, auto, auto to 2/3'rds health. E->q-> R should be a kill.

Really, her passive brings a lot to your trades, and the net q trick does a LOT of damage if you're getting fed. If you can catch an enemy with that into ult, cait turns from poke champ to burst ADC.

Careful, though, that combo takes over half her mana pool. Choose that wisely, and really don't use abilities in a spamming nature unless you're certain you can hit them all. Else you've missed q, dumped your ult into the wrong enemy, and are cursing and have burned a lot of mana. (and used your only escape).

She's my strongest ADC, so if you need help, you're welcome to add me in game.

So caitlyn has the highest base attack range of any other adc. To play caitlyn properly, you have to learn her attack range and attack from her max attack range constantly. Caitlyn has 650 atk range while most other adcs have 550 attack range or lower. That means that these other adcs have to gap close that extra 100 range in order to be able to attack caitlyn. This allows caitlyn to essentially attack other adcs more often than they attack her IF you can abuse her attack range. Otherwise, shes not a very good pick.

Aside from learning to attack from max range, theres a couple of other things you should know on caitlyn's abilities:

  1. Her passive stacks faster when you attack from a bush. So when you're doing extended trades or fighting the enemy, position yourself in the bushes near bot lane so u can stack up your passive much faster. thats 50% EXTRA DMG on your autoattack when u get your passive.

  2. With caitlyn's Q and E, theres a combo you can do for quick dmg on the enemy. Cast E and immediately cast Q on the enemy. Doing this applies the E slow on the enemy, making it impossible for the enemy to sidestep the Q so they take alot of dmg

  3. In general, you want to put caitlyn's traps in narrow areas so its more likely to hit enemies that walk through them. If you're being chased by the enemy, place the trap in front of you in the direction you're running so the trap has enough time to arm itself and this forces the enemy chasing you to either step on the trap or to walk around it. When you're grouped with your allies and they cast their CC on the enemy, drop your trap underneath the CC'd enemy. This takes advantage of the enemy not being able to move and you can immobilize the enemy for a longer duration with your trap.

Hope this info helps :)

Rush item 3085 and stand in the bush all lane, kappa.

Abuse your range, and try to poke with your passive shot like everyone else said. Rush item 3031 , and you've got an extremely strong lane bully. I usually end up with something like: item 3031 item 3006 item 3087 item 3035 item 3072 and something else.

In early game you're a lane bully that is not as strong in all-in's without prior poke.

In mid game, stay with your support and try to siege/get objectives as fast as possible.

In late game you fall off compared to all other adc damage-wise; your niche is safety and that's how you keep your dps up.

Even if you're "ahead" of champs like Vayne or Tristana, they can deal more damage with less items than you so try to focus more on objectives while the other ADC is still recovering from losing lane.
