Am i wrong for starting with Q as Naut support?

Whenever i play Nautilus as a support, i put a point in Q, then W, then E maxing W then E then Q. I've noticed that according to op.gg people take E first. Is there something that i as an unranked scrub am missing? Does it depend on the matchup? Is it because E does more damage? Is the hook way less reliable in plat+?

I've also noticed i have the most success with Nautilus when my ADC is Graves. Is this a coincidence or does it have something to do with their playstyles?

Unless you're planning a lvl 1 cheese with hook + AA for snare, E is more reliable and also serves to help get to lvl 2 first with your ADC.

You do well with Graves because he is a high burst ADC and Naut, being a high CC tank support, works best with them.

i don't play naut, but i would guess it's for wave pushing power to help to rushing level 2 and the aoe damage/slow.

graves is good with naut, both are bulky (graves passive) and graves deals a lot of burst damage which he can't miss when you lock someone down

starting Q first, it depends on the match up (like if you have draven and other adc is vayne, because that lane you can go aggro) and if you can make use of pulling level 1.

Well skillshots in general become less reliable with rank as people get better a dodging. So that could be a reason.

Also if you only have the Hook it may be difficult to benefit from that.

Yes. You should never start Q as Naut support.

The reason is that Q is an "all-in" ability. You never want to all in at level 1 if you can help it. If you have an early game ADC, take E first and then Q second to all in the other team if you hit level 2 first. Otherwise, I would suggest taking W at level 2 and Q at level 3.
