What support do you like the most?
Hey, I'm a new support main for the season 5. I currently play a lot of Soraka and Morgana, but I'm planning to play Sona soon. I would like to know what supports do you guys like to play the most and why?

I have the most fun with
,
, and
(when she's free, working on saving for her)
I used to run with
when I didn't have Thresh. He's really good but you need to land those hooks to make use of his kit. Thresh on the other hand still has his flail if the hook doesn't work out.
i love having a
or
on my team regardless of comp. so much cc between them, and they really make up for my lack of cc as a
main.
but I'm planning to play Sona soon
lol DJ Sona hype
Janna is probably my favorite support at the moment. She's just very flexible, and at my elo, super hard engage/dive champions are very common, and she counters them so hard. She's also the support I'm most comfortable on atm, I feel like I can do more on Janna than I can on other champions or other Janna players at my elo because I understand her very well.
Braum is also one of my favorite supports, I feel like its easier to provide presence in lane in some cases just because of how tanky he is (with runes). I play support pretty aggressively and both these supports really have a lot of tools to help me get out of danger if I extend a bit too far.
I played a lot of Gragas season 4 because I mained him in mid lane before his rework, so his mechanics were very comfortable to me, but I've stopped playing him since I don't feel like I have the impact I can with other champions.
I also played a lot (for me) of Sona in season 3, she's also a champion I'm very comfortable on, but lately I've been having trouble figuring out where she fits in my champion pool and in the meta. (I also enjoy playing Soraka, but similarly I don't know when to pick her)
Thresh and Blitzcrank are very fun champions, but I find that I (and the people at my elo) don't understand the intricacies of playing/playing with them, so I don't have much success on them (or at least Thresh). Of course it seems like no one at my elo knows how to dodge a Blitz grab, so I might pick him or at least ban him more often.
I'm also very interested in picking up Taric after his rework; he has a lot of cool things in his kit, but isn't terribly interesting from a gameplay perspective imo atm.
Nami
Very good at saving teammates who are in an impossible situation Sustain and poke all in one Huge Ulti is CC for dummies and easily sets up multi target Aqua Prisons Disengage or chase with Ulti + passive + Tidecaller's Blessing is top tier Landing your bubbles grants you the adoration of all
Most importantly; better than Leona in solo queue, because your team not following up on your stuns doesn't get you killed every single time.
Leona, Blitz, Thresh, Braum. I like the tanky supports. But if you get say a Darius top, go Soraka, Morg or something.
Leona by far Super tanky and has a nice chase and has a slow, stun, and a root
I have played a number of supports, so I guess I can add my thoughts.
: Her auras are great and with the exception of her ult she has no skill shots to land. She gets healing with her W so she has some sustain, but she's also incredibly squishy. Good with the right ADC and strong teamwork.
: She's got a great ult, and her tornado is useful for its knockup. With her shield and movement abilities she can almost always be where she needs to be. Very popular in ranked, but can be tricky as her tornado is a skillshot and has a delay when you are using it. I like using her though
: Great tank/melee support who can help turn a lane when the ADC wants to play aggressively. She lacks the CC of some of the others though, so coordination with the ADC is necessary
: Many people don't think of her as a support, which I can understand as I believe she was originally a mid-lane mage before nerfs. Her seed planting adds an interesting play style and she's got a very good CC package, but she's slower than most supports and suffers from being squishy without having any healing spells. You either have to be very good, or you need great coordination with the ADC to get her to work.
: great armor, sustain, stun. He's got a good kit. Best for someone who wants to play on the passive side though.
: You said you have already played her, so you know her kit. Her healing is incredible, but I don't think her kit is as flexible as some of the other supports have.
: I always picture Morgana as a midlane mage, but she does work. Only problem is that she's at her best if she can feed, and you don't want to steal CS from your ADC. Most likely you'll end up trying to run a kill lane to get gold so she can purchase items to scale up her abilities late game
: same problems as Morgana with no CC to back that up. Tibbers does bring in a huge boost to her killing potential and I've seen many Annies have a huge effect in the midgame.
Those are the ones I can say anything about. I can say that taking a single support feels risky to me. Many supports have a certain style of play they are best at, and depending on the ADC you might want to change which support you have.
Ive been playing support the whole season 4 so now I'm kinda chill with my support picks. Ive found shen to be a pretty good support once you get used to him, I carry my games honestly with shen. you just need the right runes/masteries and max q first. He has obvious counters so he doesnt too well against some matches.
On the other hand i also try lee sin support. Not as good as shen imo but if you get lucky you can carry the game easily with this guy... Other than that leona and blitz are what got me to Gold in season 4 :)
is my all time main supp, she just brings so much to the table and can protect the life of her adc exceptionally well! her engage is ok; a (preferably) long charged q is needed to engage greatly, but her disengage is outstanding. I also love
and not just because of #GEMS but his armour aura, great stun and fabulous aura ult, I also abuse it similarly to Soraka to get slightly out of reach assists hehe :D xD
EDIT: Why isn't anyone saying why
is amazing? hehe she has an excellent stun (when you land it) her heal is a great conjoined way to trade with your adc together. her e is just to help with you adc harass massively :D and her ult oooooooomggggg is excellent! mini knock-up and slow for the enemies and a ms boost for your allies when they get hit by it! :D
i like his Q and
.
they are all good sup

I prefer to counterpick support if I can but if I need to blind pick I'll usually go with morgana or leona
Soraka and Karma are extremely OP if played in a favorable matchup
I can give a top 3 because they're all pretty interchangable for me.
: I just love her post-rework playstyle. Her E feels really gamechanging when you get a good one and those machinegun heals just make her fun to play for me.
: Love how well she can deny engages and keep people safe. Her kit as a whole feels satisfying to play, even with little gold.
: Been doing this since he came out and still love it. His kit is just stupidly fun, one of my favorite in the game. His poke is so good and he scales well with MPen so it doesnt take much to have decent damage as long as you land your shots. What's better than beating someone with geometry?
and
. Especially
.
I enjoy the support/mages, like
and
. They make for very pokey zoning lanes.

I main
and
, own and really enjoy
, and I've played
,
,
and
on free weeks and really enjoyed them too
most fun i had yet was with these champs:
honestly pefer to go with her in duo but when ur playing alone not the best choice.
fuking fun to fuk around with him u got a couple of cc...but havent went support with him without my friend.
great sustain and passive champ.
shes's the one im best at so far with support, u have da sheild the q(massive damage if u go ap so there's always a nother lane for her), w(fun at top lane and always good when ur jungler coming for a gank)
For mage supports, I'll usually go for
Soraka or
Sona.
For tanky supports (my personal favorite,) I'll go for
Braum,
Thresh, or situationally
Alistar.
Braum's my favorite though, I just love to block that Nami wave or Ezreal ult.
i enjoy using
the most but i tend to have a better game and win more with
i also sometimes use
if i don't feel like using Janna or Thresh or one of them get banned
Leona and Annie Great engages / all in's in lane easy to zone my enemies as long as I can avoid their skill shots
I can roam mid if needed and help secure a kill there pretty easily
Do I have counterpick?
Yes.
Do they have heals or shields?
No.
Bombs OP
.
No, no counterpick.
The uncounterable lane bully.
.
What about Morgana though?
Not a threat.
What if you think your AD will suck though?
Fine. Take
to keep him alive.
Support is second choice for role.
I run the following:
My main support. Great CC. Super tough. She rewards an aggressive play style.
My backup support, and my previous main support before I discovered how much Leona fit my play style. I love post-rework Raka. Again, the fact you need your Q to land to heal yourself rewards an aggressive play style (within reason, she's not Leona after all). I find she works better with some ADCs relative to Leona (such as Caitlyn) but that might just be a personal thing.
I run her if I might have to carry. I actually like her better mid but she is a niche pick for me.
Once in a blue moon, I run her mostly mid. Again, a niche pick in the support role for me.
My next champion will be
. I play her during her free rotations and really enjoy her. I've just been spending my IP on rune pages and runes so I can't afford her right now. I might end up using RP though when the DJ Sona skin drops.
For those poke type of Support i really enjoy Nami, Lulu, and Sona! Nami is great and while i like her design both as a champion as her skills! the thing is her Bubble is usually the be-all-end-all its really needed to help with plays and really helps out the ADC get kills! her ult can help in teammates a lot because of the knockup! her other skills work so well especially with the ADC. Lulu is my go to support! i just love everything about her. Her Q is awesome for a poking in lane and that Slow is the icing on the cake! Polymorph is great when an enemy is attacking way too much, and her shield can help out in times of need just like her Ult!
As for Tank Support Thresh, Leona, and Braum are just great! they are all great at defending your ADC or anyone on your team!
I run
Morgana,
Soraka, and
Blitz. And since the ladies have had their fair shair of comments I'll just say that Blitz can be potent.
You need a strong ADC to really take advantage of Blitzcrank in the early game. I've played games where I've landed amazing grab after amazing grab but the ADC just couldn't capitalize on any of it. Very disheartening. You also have to realize that his Q (the grab) is expensive and has a long cool down. You want to use the threat of a grab way more than actually throwing out the grab. The presence of a front line blitz is at a minimum distracting, and to many scary. I will try hard to distract the enemy ADC from farm, sometimes that just means taking some hits. It's a different play style than Soraka or Morgana.
I think they all scale differently and have different value late game, but out of the three mentioned in my post Morgana and Blitz scale better then Soraka. Blitz can change an impending team fight from a 5v5 into 4v5 with a well placed/timed grab. He can also shit the bed, (well atleast when I play him. :D)
As a brief aside my brother plays
Braum and wrecks it! We duo bottom lane and I couldn't ask for a better support. So check out Braum who i would describe as great middle ground play style. Passive when you need it, but who can shift gears to aggressive when the time is right.
I play mainly Janna, as well as Braum and Thresh. Strong defensive supports are my favorites by far.
