I'm level 20, but been playing mostly bot games. I can pretty much dominate at those now, but when I play PvP I do anywhere from OK to not so great. When I'm not doing so well at PvP it can get pretty toxic, and teammates seem very unwilling to help. I'm coming to the board in the hopes that people are a little more forgiving here.

Mostly I've been playing two characters: Aatrox and Master Yi, because I've gotten some great kills with them. Just got my Tier 3 runes available but haven't purchased too many (trying to decide which character to apply my IP toward). I wanna put it toward Yi, but people seem pretty mad when I do bad with Yi. Also, I've been thinking about buying Sona so I can focus on support (or Ahai or Akali cause they look sweet). I bought Annie, Garen, and Nunu too.

I don't really understand what ADC is -- besides attach damage carry -- and how or why you play it. Does there have to be just one ADC?

I just do ignite and heal summoner spells all the time. Is that ok? I see a lot of people using flash.

You guys got any big tips or tricks for me?

Sometimes when people aren't doing well or become frustrated, they get toxic. It sucks. I know its hard, but try to ignore it and keep doing your best.

As far as your champions, play what you want to play. It doesn't matter if people give you a hard time because of the champion you pick, it's your choice not theirs.

That being said, I'd encourage you to work with your team and try to pick champions that will help the team win the game. It is a team game, afterall. For example, if somebody picks jungle, and someone else picks top, then maybe that game isn't the best to pick Master Yi or Aatrox. Try to work with your team as much as you can, but if you get top lane and you want to pick Aatrox, or you get jungle and you want to be Yi, then go for it. Play who you like and try to have fun!

Toxicity is something you will sadly encounter in almost all online games. Put them on ignore if they're not giving constructive help, or are just being rude. Don't respond to someone being toxic, it just makes the whole team morale go down.

PvP is very difficult, you have a lot to learn in this game. Not only how to play and build champions, but how to counter and build against champions. So dont be discouraged, you can and will lose your lane, and games. Just try to figure out what you could've done different to help you and your team win. The thing you can do if you're losing a game is to ward. Wards are extremely important to winning the game. The support will usually (save for some junglers) be the only role that will build a sightstone. But, every role can help with warding. Just buying "green" ward every once or twice you back and placing them will help a lot.

For runes, I'd set up a basic rune page that can be used by most AD champions (One for AP as well) that are useful for the majority of AD users until you get the IP to make champion-speific rune pages. Something like AD reds, Armor yellows, Magic Resist blues, and AD quints.

ADC's is a botlane position usually filled by champions labeled as "Marksman". You can play fighters and others in the ADC position, but the meta (commonly played champions) are marksman that fill that position in most cases. They're the role responsible for doing a lot of damage late game, by building damage items instead of tanky items. So they hit very hard, but are squishy. You generally want to try to keep them alive in teamfights if you're playing someone with Crowd Control (stuns, roots, fears, etc.). Or go for their ADC if you're playing a champion with a lot of damage. But don't go and run in 1v5 to try to kill them. Go for them if they're open or caught out, with keeping in mind you still dont want to die.

As for summoners, the reason you see Flash a lot is becuase it's considered by most the strongest summoner spell. It's basically a get-out-of-jail-free card when you being ganked (another lane comes to yours to try and get a kill on you) or when you're stuck in a situation (flashing over a wall to avoid dieing). Or flash can be used aggressively, by flashing forward, flashing over a wall, ect. to get a kill on an enemy.

If you need help or have questions, feel free to add me in-game. Im not high ranked or anything, but i can help with basic things.

Alright so first off, if you're contributing to the toxicity ,then stop. Remember that everyone playing this game is a human being and we all play this game for fun so theres no need to act like a complete jerk. /ignore the players that are being toxic to you and keep playing the game. If players are unwilling to help, you have to face that reality and accept that. At least you tried to persuade them.

Regarding the role ADC , ADCs are responsible for dealing the most physical dmg out of every role on their team late game. They become an important factor to winning the game when it comes down to late game dmg, late game teamfights, and tower sieging. ADC is a mix of several mechanics like kiting, proper itemization, orb-walking, positioning in teamfights, and farming.

There is only one adc per team because typically, adcs require peeling and protection so having more than 1 adc would cause alot of confusion for players trying to do that. Adcs also require a large amount of resources (farm) to build all their dmg items so to have 2 adcs that fall behind in the game sets your team behind even more. And worst of all, u have to remove one of the other roles to fit in an extra adc which tends to ruin your teamfight ability. Running double adc is typically for a split push comp, meaning all you do is split up your team and push 2-3 lanes simultaneously.

Doing ignite and heal summoner spell is fine but u have to realize that u didn't take an escape summoner spell like flash so u'd have to play smarter in lane because ur more vulnerable to ganks.

I hear your frustration mate, being technically new myself in comparison to the game's vast history. I joined up League a few months ago, and figured I could probably share a couple of tips with you.

First off, your mistake. Your biggest mistake you've done is having continued to play bots to level 20. I'm sure you're aware, but bots don't play like players. Anybody can dominate bots by level 20, the trick is understanding how players play. You've got to remember that when playing against others, like you, they're thinking of ways to outsmart you in lane, outplay you and in the end, win the game.

I HOPE you're at least watching guides on YouTube and various streams to build on your experience to better playing LoL. I suggest that if you have not yet done so, to fix up your masteries. Different champions do well with different mastery pages, and you can search any players name on http://www.lolking.net/ to find what players of a higher skill level use.

I looked up your recent matches, http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/57119727#matches and noticed that you indeed do seem to do poorly in normals. You seem to be dying a lot and it's costing your team. I want you to understand something I've come to realize lately. Your goal in every game should be NOT to die. Not at all. Why? Because for every death you're putting the enemy ahead in gold and free farm/xp in lane, and yourself behind in free farm/xp. It's actually probably better to play passive and camp near your turret and farm up on cs rather than push your lane if you're ever behind. Doing this grants that you if anything, don't fall too behind to the point you can't recover.

On top of what I've mentioned, I agree with what @AwesomeChad says in his post. If you've got any more questions, I'm happy to answer them, or if you need me to go in detail (I was brief as I'm tired) let me know and I'll be happy to help!

if you want Aatrox help, maybe look up some guides and videos by SK Freddy? He forces teams to ban Aatrox whenever they face him; he may be the best pro Aatrox player in the world
