Gnar Help

So I've been really trying to get better at gnar, but no matter how much I try, I just plain suck at him. Can any one give me some tips? I usually build Dorans Blade into sun fire Cape. Any suggestions?

I believe what you usually want to do with Gnar is get BotRK and then straight tank after that.

With that being said though, I've only played him on ARAM soooooo

either you go bruiser starting with black cleaver into ghostblade and hexdrinker boots depending on the champions your facing, u can go frozen mallet first it offeres tankiness and a great way to stick to those garens and hecarims, the most common way i build is depending on who ur facing i usally go for a straight tank build because lets face it you want to be in the center of the enemy team, as for tips on how to play him when you play and ur mini gnar u want to get as many hyper stacks as u can get it does a large amount of damange and you normally dont wanna waste your mega gnar mode so try to last hit without taking creep damange or taking champion damange next your ganna want to wait till ur about 75 -90 percent gnar bar and try to make a tp play or call for a gank you can easily make plays as mega gnar id normally try to save flash for engages incase ur jump doesnt work, theres allot to learn about gnar so if u want u can add me on ur friends list

Build tanky if you plan on actually being present for team fights. If you are a pussy and want to just split push and poke people down before running away then build AD. If you build in between you will be useless.

And just because you have your ult doesn't mean you have to use it. If you ult the enemy tanks into your carries and then wonder why nobody is backing you up... you're doing it wrong. Save ult for when someone wants to bypass you to get to your carries. That's when you ult. Or if your team just launched a bunch of AOE CC (Wukong, Zyra, Galio ults, etc) then you can ult them into that. Otherwise use it to catch out anyone who wants to ignore you simply because your Mega Gnar form is slow and say "I know I am slow but I want your full attention now!"

I typically focus on building Gnar for durability, mobility, and utility. Typically, I will rush Black Cleaver since it provides durability, mobility, damage, and CDR. Afterwards, I will often build intermediate defensive items (i.e. Warden's Mail and/or Chain Vest and/or Spectre's Cowl) before building Frozen Mallet.

Black Cleaver and Frozen Mallet are a very powerful combination of items on Gnar; they provide a lot of health, CDR, attack damage, and allow you to chase down or kite out enemies with easy. In addition, they allow you to peel or stick to targets better during teamfights in both Mini and Mega form. If you want more dueling power, Thornmail is another good purchase afterwards.

My final build typically ends up looking something like: item 3047 item 3111 item 3071 item 3022 item 3075 item 3065 item 3143

Also, since you are starting Doran's Blade, are you doing a jungle camp at level 1? Gnar can easily clear wolves with W (though it takes a bit longer than some champions), which allows you to get several health potions and a ward for early laning.
