Champions Select is Undoubtedly One Of the Most Important Things You Can Do
I just wanted to share my experience from one of my ranked games. So we go into champ select, my mind thinking, "champion select is important, but my teammates don't have a clue, so why say anything?" So I pick Maokai, because honestly, he goes well with a lot of compositions. The rest of my team is Annie mid, Malzahar jungle (I was skeptical at first), Ashe adc, and Morgana support. The enemy team is Katarina mid, Riven top, Varus adc, Taric support, and Trundle in the jungle. I hadn't even realized at this point what my team was and what theirs wasn't. So we go into the game and at about 12 minutes I realize, that the score is 1 - 14. GG, surrender at twenty yelled my team. At this point, I was somewhat in the same boat. Then, all of the sudden, in mid lane, Malzahar and Annie get a triple kill. I raised an eyebrow, and kept farming and keeping Riven off my tower, looking for opportunities to teleport. At about 25 minutes, the score is 11 - 23. We're still doing pretty bad, but now we are half their score instead of 1/14 of their score. I roam down mid after seeing that all five of them are pushing. They're getting cocky. They think that there is no possible way they can lose. They are kings of the world. All of the sudden, from the bush, an ult from Annie onto Katarina. Dead. Then out of nowhere a Malzahar ult onto Taric. Dead. Then, a flash from Morgana and an ult/zhonyas that locks down Varus and Riven. Dead. Then I have been locking down Trundle until my team got there. Dead. Ace. I can see clearly now, and I see that our team composition is pretty ****ing amazing, especially late game and for team-fighting. Another ace. An inhibitor. A baron. Another ace. A win. We lost the early game horribly. So horribly that it seemed logical to surrender. That game, for me, stressed the importance of team composition and why it's arguably the most important factor in a League match.
