Extremely Passive ADC

I'm a support mostly. I play aggressive supports... Does anyone have any tips on how to support a very passive ADC? By passive i mean all he does is farm and doesn't follow up engages because farm is his priority. In team fights he runs first sign of an enemy and leaves group to die and goes to farm. How do you support this type of ADC? I tend to "feed" with Leona, Annie, Morgana or Lulu because my engages aren't being followed up by my ADC. What are good supports for passive players?

How I see it, help them when they need it, but there no longer your priority after laning phase is over. Stick with the APC, get them fed as all hell, and then presto, you win the game. Like most supports do, unnoticed. Sorry. :(

As a morgana main i get this completely. I usually ask them in champion select if they are a passive or aggressive adc. If they are Passive I try to play janna because she is a team support not just an adc support. I often try to get them as ahead as I can and then i go support the mid or the jg depending on who has the most kills.

I recommend as leona that you just stand in front of your minions and pretend your scarier than you are. You'll take some free damage but it should zone them a little.

Well ask yourself if you truly made a good engage.

If you did pick a good fight and your ADC didn't follow up, then he sucks and it sucks to be you but you can just roam and get other lanes fed

Janna disengage queen. Thrives on surviving in lane then making plays mid-late game. Some of her skills can creatively be used as engages too. If your adc just wants to farm, Janna is the support for it.

If that's all he does I'm sorry for you but he's not a very good player and you can,t really make it work If he can't listen to what you're gonna do with these supports.Every adc should harass their opponents when they try going for a cs( you should also do that as a support it greatly help if their adc have to take damage every time he's going for a cs.)

For that type of ADC you want to look at two things:

  1. Is your support an early lane bully?
  2. Can your support roam around and pressure elsewhere in a useful manner in the mid game?

Support is a role for your team, you're not tied to your ADC. If you have an ADC that is not a play maker you can quite easily split from them and assist your team elsewhere while they split and keep the minion waves pushed. You want to switch to supporting the duelists on your team, as your team's team fighting will be weaker if you don't catch people out ahead of time.

Support your other lanes. I don't mean camp out in other lanes and sap EXP, but you can always look for opportunities to roam and get down vision or gank for mid lane or something if your ADC is just freezing under tower. There's also a chance you're playing too aggressively, but you'll need to decide that for yourself. The supports you're playing are also pretty good at ganking other lanes because of the CC they offer; Lulu also gets around pretty quick with her W. If you're playing with passive players, though, sustain or poke supports are probably better, like Soraka, Sona, Karma, Lulu, Zyra, etc. You can just use your poke to zone them out of lane and your ADC gets ahead that way. Of course, if your ADC is just running from fights, it's probably a better idea to focus on supporting players that will actually help you win the game (for example, I was playing this game where my ADC was not doing bad by any means, actually a pretty good ADC and I was able to get him a few kills, but our Akali mid lane was just going ham, so I was flashing over walls just to shield her and let her kill everyone and we won pretty convincingly)

Thanks for the tips. I guess i know for a fact that i AM too aggressive at times... but only when i know i can win WITH my adc... so when they dont join in i die... I just have to practice being more patient... and just letting them farm... I need some more criticism. Maybe i'll stream and have people tell me what it is i'm doing wrong.

Honestly this is my least favorite kinda of lane to be in. Most of the time I just try to zone/harass the enemy adc so mine can farm safely. Even if I do manage to get any of them low enough for a skirmish or a kill 8/10 they won't follow up which means all ins are futile.

If you want a passive support I would highly recommend Soraka. I went 1/1/15 in a bot lane with a Vayne adc against Sona and Ashe (I think). Needless to say neither tower was destroyed until late in the game, and my adc never died thanks to me. We never really had any opportunities to leave our lane that much outside of contesting dragon. It is possible to carry teams with Soraka, but teamfights are difficult for her. Soraka Giving more peels every game since release (banana peels... heh, heh,)

Kind of curious to know the type of play style I have, never really thought about it.

Godhri5/18/2015, 7:37:20 AM1 votes

ANY support will work. You're talking about an adc's playstyle therefore, what you need to adjust isn't your champion but your playstyle. Don't go in. Ever. Unless you need to disengage for your adc, just stay back. Of course, you still need to apply a small amount of lane pressure so your horrid adc can farm safely and properly, but never all in.

Scarlet Firefly5/18/2015, 8:14:15 AM1 votes

It really depends on the lane. Sometimes you will be matched with ADC that are supposed to lose the lane to someone else, hence they are passive. You can't just all in Graves withTristana or Vayne on lv 3. That said, there are also some ADC who prefer to farm and stay back instead of risking a bad engage. As their support, you can watch out for your opponent's engages and counter engage.

Play Alistar, click W on enemy adc or support when they get close.

gg Alistar

I use vel'koz in case of adcs like this, he's completely self sufficient in lane with long range (longest range out of any support in bot), high poke damage, decent disengage, and high burst. If adcs arent doing much i usually just stack CDR and just throw a lot of skill rotations in team fights, his damage can be surprising. Just have to be really good with skill shots (his e particularly) and good at predicting things. Only thing is you have to go at least even in lane in order to stay relevant since he's a bit feast or famine. Not too hard with all the tools he has access to though.

Focus on supports that can either 1 shot carries in lane by themselves (zyra, annie, vel'koz) or can play safe enough to never get engaged on if playing properly while still doing good damage.(vel'koz, karma) Basically avoid trades and either push enemies out of lane via poke or get fed enough off of killing them to solo carry.

If they really are running at the first sign of an enemy in teamfights, then effectively you're playing a 4v5. Go Annie and double kill their bot lane by yourself.

If you insist on playing aggressive supports, try Blitz. Your ADC will be generally more predisposed to attack the enemy when they're sitting in melee range.

Janna comes to mind when playing with a super passive adc. You can also play "carry style" supports like Annie or Lux. Lux is really great though. She's such an uncommon support that people have no idea how to play against her. Try her out!

Kãtãrinã5/17/2015, 9:51:30 PM1 votes

That type of ADC shouldn't be playing ADC if he runs from enemies when he first sees them honestly.

BakedLotion5/17/2015, 9:57:02 PM1 votes

play janna, you'll both be the most annoying bot lane na
