Ranking system and how does it rank us? ELO rating system?

How does the ranking system work and how does it know who belongs where? What does it measure? What calculations does it use in the data we exchange during the match to decide where we belong? What does it read?

On another note...

how would a win based ranking system differ with the current ranking system? who would we be matched up with? would higher win rate mean higher skilled people? would higher win rate mean lucky people? would higher win rate mean more trolls? or would it really just mean people with more time to play than others? and what would these 2 systems differ in a matter of skill??

Thoughts?

Win and you go up. Lose and you go down. That's all you need to fucking know.

then why do we lose points and go lower in rank? shouldn't we constantly climb and just not record the number of losses? and be matched with those with the same number of wins

why though? why go down when you lose? why not just climb up and not climb up when you lose?

exactly which brings me to my first questions. how is the "skill and effort" calculated? and how would being matched with number of wins differ in the way the current system ranks us?

what i mean by differ is... If someone with 500 wins gets matched up with someone with a 1000 wins wouldn't the person with 1000 wins be more experienced playing the game and winning? after all he had to lose many games these are just wins being counted. Sure there are people who have more time on their hand but they still have to experience losses. So if someone has so many wins shouldn't he be more experienced at winning thus making him a better player than someone who only has 100 wins?

We have afk's, feeders, negative attitude and so many other factors to add in that affects your entire game. So what is it and how are we being rated based on "skill" to make it a match up with someone of equal "skill"

The match making system bases off hidden MMR which is based off wins. And a win based system wouldn't be that different because that is what we have.

Still back to the first question, how's is it calculated with more than just wins.
