Totally depends on your playstyle. Without more info, im just going to throw a bunch of champs on the board

If your ping isn't very high, I'd definitely suggest learning Zed. He's one of those champs that can really take over a game if he gets ahead, and his kit punishes greed really well.
Orianna is still awesome - queen of the mid lane for a few years running now. Strong laner, great at any stage in itemization, and she has the potential to win games outright with a good ult.
Malzahar is quite good in soloq because of his insane consistency. He's not necessarily gonna 1v5, but he's the sort of champion that will give you the extra 5% chance of winning a game that will ultimately let you climb divisions.
Jayce is super fun to play, and (in my opinion) one of the strongest solo laners in the game. He's got poke, all-in, disengage, and solid dueling - what's not to like? Also, he's not very popular, so not many people know how to lane against him.
Master Yi.
Okay, slightly more serious, I recommend an AD Assassin like Zed or Yasuo. They tend to be best designed for carrying games in that they have the traits for good lane presence (quick gap closers, burst damage) and good game presence (Their kits make them build lots of items that destroy towers quickly).
If an Ap mid is more your style (And you don't want them banned more often then not)
Try picking up Annie, great burst potential and even if your behind a flash+Tibbers Stun pretty much wins a teamfight.
Just remember you only actually need to get 3 charges on Pyromania, throw your Q and shield while it's still flying for a sneaky stun.
You don't see her a lot since she moved down bot and was promptly removed from it, but the Q change makes it great for pushing in a hurry, or just catching abit of farm you messed up your AA on.
here is a nice diverse champ pool for mid lane to learn this is the champ pool that is currently helping me climb out of bronze i already got out of bronze V with it well after i added orianna to the pool zed, yasuo, orianna, kassadin, katarina, and either syndra or xerath or both. those are the important champs now you can add some that are your own style but as you can see with this pool you have a very diverse selection of mid laners you have ad assassins to bursty mages to high utility mages if these champs can carry a person out of bronze they most certainly can carry you out of the elos where your teammates actually work with you
