help with support Lulu?

I really want to main her but unfortunately I can't get her out of bots without harassment.

I'm really really new to her and I feel she is too team dependent. Any viable builds for solo que?

Many supports are team dependent, it's kind of the nature of the job. Your job isn't to carry, it's to support your team. Doesn't mean it's not as important (for every guy that says supports can't carry, there's another adc who says "can't carry, bad support" so there's got to be a correlation somewhere).

As a support, you got quite a few options. You can go full AP for the damagez and shields (AP on Lulu, Soraka, Sona, etc isn't a bad thing). You can build a little tanky to help your carry if you get good with Lulu and know her utility well, or there's a few utility builds out there to help out.

My personal favorite build, as a Lulu player, is dynamic. I tend to build item 3069 (Lulu has some decent cc, so I find that a good MS boost is better than FQC's slow). item 3190 is an excellent teamfighting item. I still don't understand why tanks never buy this item, and why it's seen as a "support only" item. The shield is useful, great against aoe, and helps protect your teammates with an MR boost where MR options are somewhat limited. You can also build item 3222 for mana and against cc supports during laning (you got a shield, but no heal, so it kind of helps). If you're ballsy, item 3025 isn't bad. item 3116 isn't terrible either, and it's similar.

The most important thing for Lulu is to be able to consistently hit her Q, it does a ton of damage and it slows for your adc to follow up.

Once you have that down start to thing about q and e's interaction, if you e a minion you can have very long range poke, or e your adc and q towards the enemy, most people can't react fast enough to dodge when they are chasing.

her w on enemies, polymorph, is nearly a stun which is why you should hold of speeding yourself up whenever you can afford to. its excellent at shutting down all ins and assassination attempts.

Lulus power is in the fact that she has a tremendous amount of cc which is best used for shutting down all ins and for making allied all ins better. but if you team doesn't have great initiators or the enemy team doesnt have any assassins I wouldn't pick her.

She also has a hard time with Leona for some reason, which you would think she would be fine against given her all in shut down.

A lot of really good points brought up below. Lulu is quite the jack of all trades support. Depending on your adc you can adjust your play style. Graves likes to all in usually so be more aggressive with him. Vayne will start passive but around item 3144 /ult or item 3153 they'll go a bit more aggressive. Flow and work with your adc. Ezreal will want to poke so you can focus on maxing q, or still max e or w if you're going against a very hyper aggressive bot lane.

tl;dr too many options, honestly any way you level your skills/who you play with you'll do well.

One combo that seems to always work for me is Lucian /Lulu . All the speed ups and extra attack for more pix damage, dashes etc. make for a frustrating lane. It just works and I don't really have a solid explanation for it.

Regarding a build, I don't usually get past it but the double vroom vroom combo is pretty awesome.

item 3303 to start. Into item 2049, item 3158, item 3069 + item 3800. Then item 3222 or item 3060 /item 3190 based on your teams needs. Hold one spot open for pinks and if it gets super late game, disregard pinks and pick an item. item 3143 or item 3102 gives you some bulk. item 3050 is beneficial for a heavy ad team.

Lulu is a poke support. When you play her, don't just spam her q's. Spam her auto attacks. Go in, auto attack the adc when they're in range, and get out. Use her w to polymorph when you can, and then don't just w. Auto attack as well, and maybe w,aa, and then q. E-q on an enemy is also a good combo.

Lulu isn't /that/ team reliant; she does pretty well in solo lanes

When I play lulu solo queue I generally build in this order: kages > sightstone > chalice > frost queen's > mobility boots > crucible > abyssal > randuins/hourglass. I think frost queens, sightstone (obviously), and crucible are pretty much the only core items lulu needs when playing her support. The rest of the items are interchangeable. Personally I avoid building AP unless my team is already ahead or we lack AP, because I try to ensure that my teammates get as fat as they can. But it really all just depends on what you want to do. :)

  1. Don't try to auto harass if you will take too much minion aggro. If you know you will take some aggro/ trade harass shield yourself.

  2. When you bait/ they waste a key skill (especially something that allows them to all-in), try to land a q, some autos, e, then another q as you back off.

  3. Realize that your e only stays on enemies for 4 seconds, so try to time your e so you can get 2 q's in

  4. Your ult and polymorph can cancel gap closers.

  5. If a squishy ally is in range of extremely high burst champions/ fed champions that can 100-0 in less than a second... don't be afraid to ult early.

  6. Your ult is your only instant CC. Polymorph isn't the best skill to use to stop Katarina.

  7. Your ult is a knock up and a slow.... some people forget this.

  8. Realize when an enemy might want to turn (jump onto a squishy target and kill them because they are going to die anyways) and be prepared to react appropriately.

  9. If you are trying to escape the enemy team alone (and you are wearing mobi boots), don't use glitterlance on them unless they have mobi boots themselves.

  10. Try your best to neutralize the largest threats within your ability. If they don't have a major threat to your back line, try to help teammates reach their back line.

  11. Usually the best person to speed up with the person with the most cc if you are trying for a catch. If a teammate has enough damage to burst someone down without dying, then speed them up instead.

  12. Items should revolve around your team and enemy team. There is no fixed build path.
Your team lacks mobility compared to their team? Talisman. _ Lots of long annoying CC? Crucible.
Immobile enemy ad team? _ Iceborn.

2+ AP dps champs? Aegis (locket vs aoe, banner to separate enemy team during objectives.
Confident you can apply lane pressure/ there will be lots of trades? _Spellthief (usually switched out for talisman if you need the active after crucible/aegis/ morellonomicon item, unless there is another more important buy you need). _ Need AP poke on your team? _Ludens. _ Hp tanks on enemy team? MAYBE Liandrys. I am personally unsure because there is usually better items that will help your team or give more AP for utility scaling. Always buy sightstone Lots of enemy heals? Morellonomicon. AD allies/ thornmail enemies? Zekes.

  13. Don't be afraid to shield yourself/adc when trading considering you don't have a reliable heal and minion harass can add up. Just don't burn through too much mana doing so.

Lulu's strength is her kit's versatility. Her many conditionals means she's always got something useful she can contribute with.

Her Q gives her offensive power, both in damage and the slow. As well as a light disengage with a quite heavy slow once it's leveled.

Her W gives her the power to move about the map quickly and is great for it's mobility. But it's also another great offensive-defensive ability with a quite durable almost-stun.

Her E is great as a shield, but don't forget to use it offensively, the main trait to it's offensive use isn't the damage part, but the sticking of Pix onto the enemy for easy hitting your passive and Q on them (with Pix on you that Q is basically undodgeable).

Her R is a simultaneous heal, shield an AoE knockup and an AoE slow field around the target.

And her passive gives her extra poke and sustained dps.

Imo she should be able to do well with any team because of how versatily her kit is. There's hardly a situation she doesn't have anything to contribute in.
