One of the best Ryze players in the League it's good to see Athene back in action playing his Ryze in the new meta of Season 5 if you listen to him talk he has some good tips on how to go about playing on the Rift. Builds 2 RoA which seems horrible honestly in summoners rift. I just don't think youll have the gold necessary to get them fast enough to be relevant.

MugyvrNinja1 votesOn a serious note with the gp10 runes plus the mastery's its pretty crazy on how fast you can get your RoA, Ryze is a late game carry so why not improve his ability to reach that late game potential with GP10 but you didn't even watch the hole thing so you wouldn't know anything about that.
Madman3571 votesHe said with all of his extra GP10 it amounts to roughly an extra 1k gold per game, that's hardly a huge amount. Its certainly not going to allow you to get an RoA all that much earlier than if you ran more standard rune setup. Not to mention that you can easily make up that amount, far quicker, if you play at least marginally aggressive in lane and poke your opponent to make ganks more effective. Getting kills is going to amount to a whole lot more than passively farming and using GP10 runes.
MugyvrNinja1 votesPlaying aggressive doesn't guaranty that you get an upper hand in lane, the idea is to play passive in lane allowing them to push you close to tower that opens up an opportunity for a gank along with Rune Prison its a for sure kill and as far as rune's go putting ap runes on a Ryze will help out your early game but it will take away from your mid game power spike that's if you are considering Mana per level runes. The hole idea of this build is to out scale your opponent through gold reward without risk.
