LF Tips on Zilean

Been playing A LOT of support matches lately and I picked him up almost on a whim because I was getting kinda bored with my main support. Maokai

Didn't do a bot for practice, just jumped straight to PVP. Set up a mastery page and just used my "General AP" rune page. Lost a couple, won maybe one, but had loads of fun and I made some HUGE plays for my team with him. Saved our HecarimJG more than once with either a well placed E or R and completely turned around the team fight.

TL;DR: Help me play the Chronokeeper.Zilean

Well, full CDR builds and mana work well. As support zilean, I'd focus on the CDR and not so much the dmg. And jsut make sure you land your stuns. Pretty much it. His kit is pretty self explanatory. Keep your ADC alive. In team fights, speed them up so they can position well. Good luck!

His double bomb stun can be quite tricky to land in team fights if your trying to use it for an initiaton. I usually save it for followup. Also the stun will go off even if the first bomb didn't land on an enemy. You can use this to place the first bomb on one of your allies who are diving the enemy team and give the second one to him once he's in. (Its much easier to land on an ally then enemy)

Outside of mastering the stun, His playstyle is a bit more reactionary focused. His 99% slow can be a great peeling tool in alot of cases, the 99% speed boost is great for letting your allys dive the enemy back line.

With your ultimate its all about timing it properly. If you use it to early most enemys will wait it out then kill the target. My recomendation would be to practice last second ult placements. It can be hard, but with practice you'll get the hang of it.

Does anyone know if the bombs still use the targets MR for the entire AoE if it hits someone?

Either way a good way to get a tun off is to throw it on a nearby creep, they are predictable and slow.

For support Zilean, this is usually the build I aim for. item 3092 item 3158 OR item 3117 item 2049 item 3040 item 3190 item 3089 . Boots are depending on what I need or if I might have more CDR elsewhere in the build. There are still other items you can use for whatever you need. Like if you want Liandry's for a bit more peel and health, Mikael's for the CC removal, etc.

As just about all supports, Try to get at least 800 before your first back so you can buy Sightstone. Anything else, put either into getting first stage of boots and pots or getting your Tear. Recommend getting Tear as soon as you have the gold for it after to help with mana. Use E only when you feel it can help secure a kill or to escape. I feel it's not worth the mana to use at times unless it's 2-3 times to leave base after backing to help stack Tear(only use W once to save mana when doing this AFTER the E wears off for efficiency).

Bombs are easy enough. They're just flat out better to me than old Zilean, and honestly, it makes him feel so much better despite his other changes. He's a much safer champ than the telegraphed "I'm moving close to bomb you!" which could get you in a bad spot. They can be used to zone out enemy laners really well. Try not to use double bombs too much unless it's to punish bad positioning or if enemy gets aggressive to save mana. One bomb is usually enough to deal easy poke or zone them away. Just try to get them to stick to champs rather than minions to avoid harming your ADC's CS.

When grouped up for team fights or shoving lane, it's really not that much different. Bombs away(hopefully for great stuns too) and try to hold onto your E to save a life or doom an enemy. Your R is more on what you feel is the best choice. Try to hold onto it until you KNOW it'll be useful and not just bring someone up to die again(unless that's what you aim for and helps secure a kill or two for your side as well).

I don't play Zilean all that often, but he is a champ I really like and is simple to understand. Just takes time and practice to learn how to use his skills effectively.
