When should I start ranked?

I already have Ahri as my safe pick. But I'm still not sure when to start. :/

Start playing ranked when you can comfortably play every role, because you won't always get your main role you'll have to fill sometimes.

what's funny...is you'll get tons of people saying "play every role" "have multiple champs for every role" etc....yet there's legit Diamond players out there that couldn't fight their way out of silver on certain roles.

If you know the basics for every role, and are comfortable playing at least 3 of them with multiple champs so that you're not S.O.L. if it gets banned or picked by the opposing team...go for it.

At least learn a little about the 5 roles before you start. If you can pull off things like ahri support, top, jungle then go for it but people will hate you. You can climb with things like that, I've seen a guy who got to diamond literally playing Mordekaiser in any role. Just start it as soon as you can in my opinion, I got placed in Silver 2 last season and I'd never even done a draft pick before.

The reason you should start as soon as possible is because you'll be placed most likely where you belong. If you don't, you'll climb no problem (elo hell doesn't exist really) and if you drop, take your losses as learning experiences and try to improve your personal game.

If you want tips for ranked I recommend going to YT and searching for Foxdrop. He's really good at explaining not only your own personal mechanics, but the best attitudes to take into a game in order to help secure victories. Either way good luck, don't get too frustrated!

Dont start this season wait till next or the one after that. They ruined the placement algorthims. You will literally be placed in bronze and be trapped there until you quit playing league all to gather.

Literally nothing but handicapped persons or extremely understudied dicks that dont play correctly are there. I just started playing in season 4 had to replace in season 5 and wrongly got placed in bronze from silver 4 and now im in elo hell where i will likely never get out of and its literally going to be the reason i quit league.

I have stop spending money on league because I know for a fact the only reason i am going to quit is because im stuck with the trash. When i know i am above these guys. And seeing as I main the least contributing role aka support I AM TRAPPED. And there is literally nothing i can do to climb out of this garbage pile.

I was 3 Lp away from getting to promos, but then a feeding jungle xin and a terrible adc ashe cost me over 40 Lp and im just fucking done. I promoted in Silver 4 to 3 because my junglers and adcs had half an ass to think with. But nope in bronze its a mirical to get anyone that knows anything about this game.

Dont even mention the number of morons trying to play leader confusing everyone and making other players unconfortable with their play style because mister leader ping spams them from doing stuff. ITs out right annoying. Bronze needs to be deleted and if you fail so bad that you would get thrown into its place you should just have to replace in you placing matchs

You're pretty inexperienced as a player (so am I but you get the picture), my friends asked me to start ranked when I hit 400 wins. I went to ranked immediately after hitting level 30 last season and got placed in Bronze I and stuck in Silver V for the whole season. I'd say get at least 400 wins in normals first. Also, learn to support. No one likes supporting in ranked.

What I've been learning:

(1) Try to have a couple hundred normals wins to get comfortable with mechanics, item build adjustments, and varying ally/enemy champs. Beyond being good at your own champs, know the enemy/ally champs and what they could potentially do to/for you. Understand how to build your champ based on fed enemies, lane opponents, and team compositions. (2) I would suggested being familiar with all of the roles, even if you prefer mid. I'm not saying go "fill" but be prepared to play something besides mid. (3) Have a couple of backup champs for the roles you wind up playing (cuz bans and team comps). (4) Have a sufficient number of rune pages (ip from normals will help you with that). Double check masteries for the champs you like and make some pages for them. The most commonly used runes across roles/champs are

Marks: AD, MagPen, ArmPen, HybPen Seals: Armor, HP/level, HP Glyph: MR, MR/level, AP/level, CDR Quints: AP, AD, AtkSpeed, LifeSteal, Armor

so depending on which champs you wind up using (and check multiple guides for each champ!), prioritize rune purchases.

Good luck! :D

able to play at least 2 roles out of 5. and with those 2 roles, at least know 3 different champ of that role. lets say jungle, able to play the assassin type, the tank atk speed or the cc tank type. learn all 3 of a role. when you fresh start on rank, u'll be placed with people not much smarter then ur current normals.
