Urgot Ranked

So, obviously Urgot isn't the best champion in the game but I have been seriously playing him recently on my smurf and was thinking about taking him into ranked. No..it's not because of some hipster bullshit I just genuinely like playing as him as well as the surprise on the enemy team when they are getting stomped by him. My question to you is if I was going to play him to the best of his ability what is the best build path for him as well as maybe a few hints to playing with him on a competitive level..I'm only bronze at the moment so don't worry it's not like im playing in diamond or plat with him or anything.

He scales well with mana, armor pen, CDR, and attk DMG. So usually people build tear into manamune with brutilizer and CDR boots. If you are going tank frozen heart is very strong on him.

For the the best "go-to" build for urgot is to start off with 4 red and blue potions and a charm item 1004 The pots are for your sustain and the added mana regen might be small but it works in the long run. Your goal for the first 5 minutes or so is to get to 700 gold or above. Bully, Last Hit, and ask for ganks to do so but be careful, Urgot is not that powerful now so use your range to your advantage to deny the enemy any farm. As soon as you get a kill or force the enemy back to base with the 700+ gold, recall immediately to buy yourself a Tear item 3070. The sooner you build those stacks, the better. Once you have your tear, start on those attack items if you can, preferably a item 3134 . This is when you really start to deal some damage while taking a respectable amount of damage. Personally I prefer to finish the Black Cleaver item 3071 early, just for that lovely chunk of HP and armor pen. Since it is about mid game, you may want to start getting some resists, mainly a item 3110 for armor and a item 3065 for magic. From then it is up to you on the other items, but that early game formula works well for me.

Even though urgot is a great laner, he's very bad in the mid/late game so no matter how fed you get it's very hard to carry a game with him

HOWEVER if you enjoy playing the champ then by all means play him in ranked, even though it's ranked it's still just a game :)

I feel like he could do well as a tank/bruiser because of his ult. If you use it with the right defensive build you don't need to worry about dying immediately when you pop up in the middle of the enemy team and can displace an enemy squishy right into the hands of your own team. He has some really solid early game harass too against top laners since they tend to be melee.

Well in my opinion every champion can be strong, and it the weird picks in bronze that can carry you because the enemy has no idea how to play against you. Honestly though I have no idea how to build urgot, but I would say you could either build him like ezreal, or you could build him off tank top, he can function in either role, possibly even in jungle if you get good enough with him.

Dear Ruin Sage,

Urgot can be played as a laner or jungler as long as you play him like an AD-Caster which means building mana, attack damage and some tankiness. If in bottom lane Urgot does best as an aggressor: Reach level 2 and lock on your rockets to the foe of choice and chase them out of lane with your damage. When teamfights roll around you want to flash into the middle of their team and ult their carry, causing their carry to be transported to the frontlines for your team to destroy. Your off-tank qualities will enable you to run back to your team or stay safe until your team bails you out assuming they do their job. While I'm not sure how he fares in the new jungle I know If jungling in the old you wanted blue buff first so you could kill the other camps w/o out of mana, farming until you hit level six and using your ult in lanes to gank people away from their towers.

I'll leave you vids of Urgot played Mid/Jungle for LoL lols, Esjaibie.

P.S: The video of mid-lane Urgot starts unimpressive but later reverses.
