Xerath or swain
Which should I buy ? I feel like both are really strong. And sometimes I feel like if I would've picked a strong champ instead of a champ I like to play, I might've been able to carry.

I think it depends on your elo. A LOT of people (in normal drafts at least, I haven't encountered it yet in ranked) don't know how to play against Swain. He's less popular so people don't know his abilities and such. If you're bronze/silver I think Swain would definitely net you more wins.
Xerath would probably be a stronger pick at platinum+ elo's. Gold would probably be about even.
Do keep in mind Xerath's stun is having its max duration reduced from 2.25s to 1.75s on the PBE. So perhaps he'll be a little weaker soon.
Xerath is top-tier mid laner, but Swain is a completely different style and he can fit in the top lane. Depends on which lane you want.
I'm biased toward Swain because I love champs that fit in multiple lanes.
swain I see as close range while xerath is long range. also what valyrianblade said.
I'm going to shoot this statement down right now. You can pick "strong" meta picks all day, if you suck at playing them you're more likely going to feed than if you were to have a comfort pick.
My statement was implying I was relatively as good with both champs :P Not betwen, let's say, my "main" and a "first time champ"... I must admit that my first post was vague, but that's the way I meant it ; That I felt like picking a "strong/concidered strong" champ over a champ I enjoy playing COULD help me win/carry more games , or something like that.

Can't say i've seen many players win lane/game against a competent swain. Must admit I don't recall winning lane against him either...
Well, with all that, I guess i'll aim to buying him first and see what happens after?
Swain is much stronger if you're fed than Xerath. Other then probably Xerath is better because he is safe (at least he is not unkillable like other mobile champions, just need to get closer him.)
swain is a beast, but he does have major wave clearing issues. His last hitting is pretty hard as well. I'd base your decision off of those factors. Xerath is a very solid pick as well. Most importantly though, if you play a champion you are very experienced with, then you're probably a lot more likely to win than just jumping to a new character just because they're "in". Not saying you couldn't just practice them, though.

Play what you're comfortable on, you're more likely to carry. That being said, you also have to understand that some champs have more massive powerspikes but those also tend to fall off in the lategame so you end it in mid-game before they're outscaled.
From a fun standpoint, Swain for days.
