ithink you should try other jg champs in normals or just play vi in normals and get used to it more such as quicker routes. Also since i don't know how your matches are you ganking enuff?

Change your build for vi if you want to carry or be a threat. Look at my last games on op.gg and look at damage report. I'm almost always, win or lose, the top damage in a game. Teammates just need to follow up.

It's XJ9s "dat vi" build, Google it, and if you don't know xj9 just know he is the jungle God of NA

The answer to your question is a combination of all four.

  1. if you main jungle practice a second role you might be able to fall back on if jungle is taken.
  2. went 2-1 in ranked for the day? take a break and play some ARAMS for fun.
  3. went 0-3 in ranked for the day. You played bad and you were part of the main reason your team lost (some people will never admit to themselves when this happens). Take the rest of the day + tomorrow off. Watch a jungle main streamer (Nightblue). Take note of when he backs, where he goes next, which lanes he decides to gank and for what reason, etc.
  4. play VI in normals. Normals are for you to experiment with. Go for crazy plays you might be too scared to do in ranked just to see what happens. Try different builds. When you master a champ you have the knowledge in game how strong you are and what you can and cannot do at all stages of the game.

Okay, but what if I don't want to take time off of LoL? What if I feel like I should be using the time to get better? Assume a lack of self-discipline on my part to stay away from the game in time I haven't already sold to full-time work, family, the one or two friends I have that I can only access via text or online, reading, or sleeping/eating/hygiene.

If you want to play, keep playing! Maybe if your playing bad switch to normal games for the rest of the day. I play A LOT of League and I get burnt out and take a few days off because I want too.

I've already stayed away from Ranked for the last couple of weeks to preserve my LP. Normals have been the norm as of late. Guessing that they can't be seen outside of op.gg or LoLKing

Ok your next step is simple. Normals are good, but they aren't ranked; they will help you learn but only so much. You need to not fear ranked because if you are nervous or go in thinking "I can't lose any more games" it might make you play worse. I felt this way for a while and was scared to play it at all! I told myself just play 1 or 2 ranked games a day. Always a normal first just to warm up. The more I played the more I only wanted to play rank because it is more competitive and the games are much better quality for the most part. You will learn faster. De-ranking sucks, but you have to ignore your LPs in general and just play to improve and learn. You will actually rank up faster and have more fun overall. Your thoughts after a loss for example might be "well that was a close game there and we would have won if we hadn't done this or if we did that instead" rather then "my team lost and I lost 20LP". If I lose two ranked games in a row I stop for the day (sometimes I'm stubborn and throw one more loss). I went from Silver to Plat this season in less then 100 games.

Really think about what you are doing wrong and right. When you lose one it should only encourage you to play the next game without making a certain mistake or doing something better, and so on.

Okay, but what if I'm Bronze 4? What would I have to learn that I haven't already gotten an idea of in order to climb the ladder? Or is it something mental that I need to rein in before I can do better?

ZergReap1 votes

Do not over think it man. It doesn't matter that you are in Bronze 4. Generally, anyone who is "better" than you has just played the game longer or made better use of their time. Really think about what you are doing. I mean, really. Are you just running wherever or following your team around aimlessly? Or are you being pro-active and planning your next move. Mechanics are one thing, but game knowledge and decision making is what is most important.

I sent you a friend request on my other account I'm playing on (BanelingRushgg). If you want to talk some more or even play some normals I am down. If not good luck!

I think you should pick up voli and Sejuani in the jungle more, and consider looking into better itemization for the team you are against. You don't need to go randuins, but instead build a Thornmail against a high ad threat or two. Second, I recomend mercs on nearly every tank Jungler when against any slows or other cc.

Yes, I did like playing them in jg. Main thing is, Sejuani wavers between 68-79% ban rate status currently :P

Try to pick up some other kinds of junglers if your a jungle main. I'd suggest Diana, Elise, and Gragas. Diana is one of the better AP burst damage junglers, Ellise is slowly making the climb back into jungle relevance, and Gragas is actually a stronger tank than sej is at the moment, because he has a better early game. Good luck though.
