Dealing with some of those difficult champions

We all know not all champions are equal. As hard as riot tries, having so many champions can make it difficult to balance. I do not know how to deal with all champions well, but there are a few I can give some advice on.

NASUS Nasus Nasus is a top lane monster, late game that is. There is always the option to counter pick him, but if you can't you need to know how to deal with him once he has gotten "out of control."

  1. KNOW THAT HE WILL GET THE FARM HE NEEDS. It is wise to try and slow Nasus farming. This is often done with frequent ganks, harass, and warding to avoid being killed by the enemy jungle and letting him free farm. Eventually however, he will farm. It isn't hard to get many stacks on nasus. If he is left alone mid game with a sheen, he can wrack up a hefty amount with very little effort. Try your best to slow his farm.

  2. PUNISH HIS TEAM Nasus will have to stop farming at some point to help his team. If you see a nasus afk farming top lane, try and take advantage of this by giving another lane some grief. Frequent ganks on mid and bot, even jungle invades, will eventually send any decent player running to the rescue (if they can help that is). Drawing out a teleport will allow the top laner to push and possibly take an objective or two, as well as get a bit of farm advantage if they are having a rough time.

  3. REACT TO HIS TELEPORT this is a huge mistake most people make. If you see a nasus teleporting in, and he is a big threat..RUN! Tactical retreat is nothing to be ashamed of, If he is the only threat, FOCUS HIM. Yes, you can focus nasus. If you have a teamfight where a nasus is power fed and you are focusing the 3/15 vayne, you're going to have a bad time.

  4. KITE, KITE, KITE Nothing is more frustrating for those playing Nasus than being unable to reach their target. Building items that slow him, remove his wither, or speed you up, can save the game. Nasus is most dangerous while ulting. If you are fighting a fed nasus the ONLY way you are going to survive him is kiting, and waiting out his ult. Picking champions with heavy CC that can stun and run are really beneficial. Leona is great vs nasus. She can keep him locked down for a while allowing her team to kite. There are other options of course, that's just one I had in mind. Someone like morgana is wonderful as well. That wither is what makes it so hard to escape!

----There are more ways to deal with this champion, these are only a few!

ZED Zed Zed is a deadly assasin. late game it is really difficult to keep him off your carry. It's kind of his thing. Jump in, kill, retreat.

  1. CATCH HIM WHEN HE ULTS If you blow all your CC on Zed before he uses his ult, hes still going to kill a carry and run laughing into the night...or die...but either way he did what he was made to do. Once Zed ults (He will dissapeer and an X type animation will happen over the targeted character, he will then reappear and start doing damage to the carry) use your stuns and silences, exhausts, disengages, etc. This will likely save the carry and prevent him from hopping back to his shadow.

  2. BUILD QUICK SILVER SASH QSS removes zeds ultimate therefore eliminating the bonus damage and delayed damage from it. Just wait until he ults and you see the little status icon above your action bar. Then QSS and disengage, or kill him. Whatever works.

  3. SAVE YOUR DISENGAGE This applies to any champion with a peel ability or escape ability. When I see a zed on the enemy team I like to use Janna. When he ults, I ult in response, or shield, or knock him up so the carry can run away. If you have a champion with a jump, like ezreal or tristana, use their disengage after his ultimate. Same thing with flash, knockbacks like trists ult, etc.

  4. WATCH YOUR BACK Many good zeds will wait until a team fight starts to jump on your carry, killing them in the chaos before you have time to react. You should expect this and react accordingly. If that means staying a little closer to a carry to make sure you can peel, then do that. If zed is at the point where he's just kill whoever he pleases....read above, if it fails...im sorry.

  5. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD Warding is a huge rain on zeds parade. If he is going to try and make a big impact on the game, he will likely roam. It is a very good idea to ward and be aware of the minimap. If you see mid is missing EVEN WITHOUT A MIA PING, you run to your turret. Try to maintain bush control (tri, river etc) but if you can't, your turret is your best friend.

  6. BLOCK HIS ESCAPE If you see a zed jump in and you can't stop him from doing what he wants to do, wait at his shadow. If he tries to teeleport back to it, kill him, cc him so others can kill him, or just to disrespect him.

  7. BUILD TO COUNTER There are always items to counter a champion. As mentioned above things like QSS, and banshees can help. But for supports and top laners or tanky junglers it may be more beneficial to purchase ambient items. Getting frozen heart, mikaels for the heal and slow removal, randuins, and other items such as this can have a huge impact on the sucess of the game. If he can't kill you, he'll be sad.

WARWICK Warwick

I've seen a lot of trouble with him lately. Once he gets fed and fast, he's extremely hard to kill. This can make things difficult when it comes to your carries. It goes against your natural instincts to focus the tanky jungler, but there are other ways to deal with him.

  1. STOP THE HEALS! Warwick is mostly a terror because he is incredibly difficult to kill once he has the correct items. There are items in the game to counter this. Morellonomican and my personal favorite, executioners calling, are two great items to stop his regen. Unless you are in a fairly high elo, it's unlikely the player will be looking for this item. ADCs autos becoming devastating when he can't heal through the damage. Morellos only works oince they are below 45% hp I believe, but it can be useful.

  2. HIS ULT DOES NOT HAVE A HIGH COOLDOWN Saying "WW ULT DOWN!" isn't really that important. It has a very, very low cooldown (less than a minute) once mid game comes around. This is a suppress so you will be unable to move or cast any spells, even summoners (cleanse doesn't work, sorry!) while it's happening. He will almost always go for an ADC, APC, or squishy top laner.

  3. BUILD TO COUNTER Warwick does mostly MAGIC DAMAGE. Many players don't realize this. His autos deal extra magic damage, as does his Q and ult. Building MR Is helpful, although armor can help as well because he does do some physical damage. Building items such as banshees, QSS, zhonyas, mikaels, etc can really change the game.

  4. PEEL HIM OFF! You can stop a warwick ult. Knock ups, silences, stuns, knock backs and suppresses will stop his ult. This can help someone escape if you can peel him off before the full duration.

  5. LEAVE WHEN YOU'RE LOW HP Staying around a teamfight with no HP and a fed warwick is nothing but counterproductive. Warwick gets a massive movement speed boost at a fairly long range when he is around a player with low HP. This helps him catch anyone he's trying to reach, and grants him vision of the marked person. Just go home if you can't do anything to help!

  6. KNOW WHEN HE'S CLOSE TO 6 warding is another huge deal when facing warwick. If you ward and react, he can't get fed or get his team fed off of you. He will likely not gank before he has reached level 6. Once he has, you need to start warding EVEN MORE to counter his ganks. It is almost always a kill when he ults a player and has a teammates help. If not a death, then he's almost certainly getting a summoner spell or two.

MORGANA Morgana Perhaps the most boring champion in the game, but defnitely one of the most effective. Morganas spell shield, ridiculously long snare with a pretty thick range for a snare, and AOE slow/stun with damage ult, can be game changing if played correctly.

  1. BAIT THE SHIELD In lane it is important to bait morganas spell shield before doing anything agressive. You can do this by walking towards her like you are about to use an ability that would be CC (please don't do this if you're going to die if she snares you -_-). If she does this, you can jump on the adc, or wait until the duration has gone down and go on her. It has a pretty decent cooldown so you have some wiggle room after. Also, this is very important, IF SHE SHIELDS, DO NOT USE CC ON HER. It will do nothing, in case you didnt know that already.

  2. OUT DAMAGE THE SHIELD If you deal enough magic damage to soemone with the morgana shield it will dissapeer. Otherwise you'll just have to wait the 8 seconds until it goes away.

  3. DODGE THE SNARE Morgs snare binds you for nearly 3 seconds. That is...HUGE. remember no escape abilities will get you out of there until the duration is up (jumps, netting backwards, dashes, nope. Youre stuck!) Tenacity is helpful and so are things like banshees, QSS..You know the deal!

  4. STUNNING HER DOES NOT STOP HER ULT FROM CHANNELING! I know for a long time I thought i could stop it this way. no sir! You have to get out of range of her to stop the ult from stunning you. Even if you disable her it will still get you at the end of the duration.

  5. POKE IS GOOD If you have a heavy poke champion it makes laning vs morgana a bit easier. Morgs shield only absorbs magic damage (sorry ap carries :c) so you can deal full attack damage to her while the shield is up. Morg has no sustain aside from some minor spell vamp from her passive. If you are a bot lane adc and support, the only way she can activate this is by damaging you, or minions. Which she likely won't do.

ZILEAN Zilean zilean is incredibly annoying. Early game, with a ltitle ap, his bombs are really difficult to deal with. They hurt! His ultimate also brings an ally back to life with hp and mana based on his AP. If they are killed during the duration of his ultimate that is.

  1. DON'T FOCUS THE PERSON WITH THE HOURGLASSES ON THEM! Zileans ult has a visual effect for enemies as well as allies. Enemies (you in this case) will see hourglasses swiriling around them. They are yellow. Hard to miss! If you see this, ttry you best not to kill that person until the duration is up.

  2. RETURN THE FAVOR Early game zilean is very, verrrry squishy. If he comes in to bomb you, hitting him with some damaging abilities may deter him from doing it again. Negative reinforcement! You can also focus him and kill him if you're able. He will die very quickly, before the adc really has a lot of time to react. If he is tanky, he's sacrificed damage..so yay!

  3. USE HIS BOMBS AGAINST HIM It is pretty customary for zilean to be support. It is also customary for the support not to take cs, and for the bot lane not to push if they want to not be exposed to the enemy jungler. When zilean places a bomb on you, walking onto your own minions in order to kill them or help the lane push TOWARDS you is a good way to stop him from doing it. His adc likely wont appreciate being thrown off his groove and they probably wont be too comfortable pushing that hard. If they are, ask your jungler to take advantage of it.

  4. BE KIND, REWIND! Zileans ult/bombs and speed boost/slow can be triggered very quickly becuase of his W, rewind. It takes a lot of time off of his cooldowns! A smart zilean will use it often when he wants to get his ult back up quckly, or bomb, then rewind and bomb again for the burst damage. Be aware of this and be careful!

  5. SPLIT THE DAMAGE! no just kidding. Don't do that. If you stand next to an ally it will not reduce the damage done to you. It wil just do damage to them. Stay away from each other!

There are loads more champions I could put in here. But that would take forever. So here you go! Some simple tips to deal with some pesky champs. Feel free to ask me to add anything and I will if it's correct! You can also tell me if im wrong about something nad ill adjust if i find it to be true after checking :D

This is an amazing compilation of tips. How the heck has it not gotten any upvotes yet?

Y'know, Gangplank does remove Warwick's suppression with his oranges and also counters Morgana. :^)
