Does the current super tank meta mean every ADC should be building Blade of the Ruined King now?

Just curious about this. In a lot of games now there is usually at least one person on a team that has built super tanky, usually the jungler. The combination of their super high HP pools as well as armor makes it really difficult to take them down with a standard ADC build.

It seems like the best option in this scenario would be to build BotRK on every ADC now, but im not sure if that's right nor am I sure when to go about building it. From what ive seen, the only ADCs that typically build BotRK are assassin types such as Vayne/Twitch because it compliments their bursty style of damage.

The problem with the item is that it doesn't provide as much AD as IE nor as much AS as Shiv/PD, so it cant realistically replace either of those items in a build. Im concerned that if I get a BotRK on say, a Caitlyn, its going to set my damage back so much that id be entirely irrelevant in the mid game, but if I wait and build it later it will be too late. This also raises the question of whether its a better purchase than LW as a fourth/fifth item.

Not every ADC, and not all of the time. If an enemy tank is very fed, Bork is an option, but it does limit your potential a bit against other squishies. It can be a bad purchase if they only have one tank and everyone else is damage-focused. By taking Bork, you also lose out on the BT lifesteal and shield, which can be big helps against the sustained damage some tanks bring. Additionally, some carries just don't use it as well as straight AD (particularly the high ranged ones like Jinx or Cait), and should hold off on purchasing it.

BotRK is built by sustained damage adcs, not bursty. Bursty champs build IE or Triforce.

Just build LW and if needed, Cleaver.

here's an example build:

item 3153 item 3035 item 3031 item 3046 will give you the dps you need item 3006 or item 3111 if the tanks are cc heavy (only useful against the tanks, because lifesteal. If you're slowed by a carry, then...) item 3072 is a good dueling late-game item against tanks and can serve as a sub for GA.

Depending on the adc in question, you could also build item 3078 . It'll even give you a little tankiness and the passive will make kiting easier.

Never underestimate the power of item 3142 either. It helps your DPS skyrocket into a fight.

But yea typically when a team is super tanky just build a BOTRK and a LW and you will be k

item 3153 helps more when your damage is low compared to their tank stats. Therefor you get it when behind the power curve relative to them as a quick fix or close to the end of your build if it is clear it will become a problem once they catch up in items (likely if your build includes item 3078 ).

Presuming they have multiple tanks and it really is needed to hurt them, it would be best to wear each down in turn and then someone else to burst them unless the AD you are playing has a good chunk of back loaded damage for finishing them off. And be sure your team knows to not waste long cool downs until they have been worn down so they will have damage for finishing things.

Possibly just as important as choosing BotRK, if they have a lot of tanks the difference between item 3087 and item 3046 for good sustained damage will be much more apparent. So do get the latter unless your team is really hurting for wave clear.

Depends, one tank, don't bother, just work around them. However with a really beefy front line yes you probably want to get item 3035 item 3153 at some point in your build.

However some ADCs just don't get it. Corki

Depends on what type of tanky-ness they have. If they're stacking alot of MR/ARMOR, then you want flat AD. If they're stacking alot of health, Botrk is better.

Nah. Still have to kill those squishies in the back. Usually you let the APC deal with the tanky guy since MR is harder to stack.

Or you could just play Vayne. My biggest fear about tank metas is that stupid PITA witch coming back into popularity.

If it is proven too strong I could see a nerf to Thrornmail.
