not sure where to put this, but does anything have this problem? i play a lot of top/mid/jg/supp but one role i can't play for my life is ADC. i'm thinking maybe it's because i play so many melee champs, i'm used to engaging and peeling.
kiting is not a problem for me, but it's just something about being ADC, that i become passive on instinct and not engage as much. how could i better myself to be a qualified ADC?
Like they say man. Just spam games.
It's literally that simple. Play ADC until you're use to the mind set of one. The only way is to experience it yourself, thus spamming games = experience.
Learn about A click or X click. Basically you click the A or X key and left click the ground, your character will now attack the closest target.
There are a couple of things I do as an adc and it's kind of difficult to explain as it comes off as second nature from playing it so much.
But learning to move your character as quick as you can after an auto attack is a good place to start. Positioning obviously. Trading in lane. Target priority ( people think hitting the tank is wrong, very very awkward, because this rumor is false, in fact you do the complete opposite )
More importantly, remember most things are situational, so the only way you will know what to do in situations is by getting first hand experience.
I would say one of the biggest things that helped me learn how to adc is whenever team fight starts count to 2 in your head before you start doing anything. This will let them blow all their cc and you can survive longer.
also like Grinning Fetish said, its ok to attack the tank. I don't care how much your jungler is yelling at you, if you have billion health nautilus or Alistair diving at you, you NEED to kill him before anyone else. Leave the enemy carries for your top and mid laner.
and most important remember that staying alive is more important then doing damage. Don't just sit there and die to maybe kill one person.
