Winning Zed Games in Solo Queue, but... am I playing him right?

I'm having trouble getting kills with Zed. I can't seem to do the 100-0 burst I've seen good Zed players do. In lane, I'm usually up 20 cs by the 10 minute mark over my opponent but I rarely finish the laning phase with more than 1 kill. In fact, I rarely get 10+ kills on him in any games, my past 3 Zed games combined I was 25-5-9. When I ult for an all in, it feels like I'm mashing every ability I have without knowing wth I'm doing.

I don't think my build is the problem, I build BotRK, brutalizer, LW, and upgrade to ghost blade, then get hydra to go in split pushing mode. I've read guides by pros who do something similar so I don't think my build is the problem, my execution is.

Can someone explain a good 1v1 kill combo with zed? Like in lane opponent is at 40% health, we're both level 7 and in the middle of the lane, ignite is up, I have bilgewater cutlass up. What do I do?

Kill combo on early game would be:

-R->E-AA->Q-AA, then as many AA-Qs-Es as you can. You probably didn't kill your target because they flashed away under their turret and avoided a lot of damage.

But now that they have burned flash you just have to wait 1 minute until your ult is up again and:

-Wait for them to burn their escapes-snares-stuns-etc -Spawn W right next to them -R-E-Q-AA, and as many Es Qs and AAs as you can land, even with just a brutalizer you should be able to 100-0s them. As long as you don't miss any Q coming from your W.
