What should I do for my first ranked Placement Matches?

I FINALLY hit level 30 after many, many months of playing the game. When Season 5 rolls around, I'm wondering how I should go about doing the 10 placement matches that will determine my rank. Should I play a super safe but strong Support like Janna and hope my teammates are skilled enough to carry? Maybe I should play something a little more risky like Jax top or Shaco jungle and hope I can steamroll the game.

I'll accept any advice you guys have, I just would really like to skip most of Silver because I've heard it's not fun to be in, all "elo hell" crap aside.

Just don't play ranked for awhile. You'll be happier if you wait

ya, don't play ranked right away, but when you do play ranked, play what you can play. playing in bronze and silver will be easy to win if you don't belong there, otherwise it will seem awful if you do take it too seriously.

  • be able to play all roles just a bit, but main one or two.
  • make sure your rune pages are good and full with tier 3 runes.

Well, skipping silver is an interesting goal. Most people land somewhere between bronze and silver their first time. If you feel you're good enough to beat silver, why don't you add me? I'm S3, so I'm in a good spot to tell you if you have what it takes to place gold.

And Honestly, easiest role to carry from is jungle, as you can affect all lanes with the least amount of effort. Shaco jungle is incredibly niche, however. If you can't play him well, do NOT play him at all. He's super squish and will die early to nearly anyone.

If you want to ask further questions, you can either add me, or come visit the stream I mod :

It's a pair of Diamonds that do free coaching on Saturdays (Sunday this week) and might be able to help you out.

Shaco is very high skill cap. A good shaco can outcarry fed Udyrs, Yis, etc. with good map awareness, mechanics and splitpushing. A bad shaco goes 0-10 and snowballs all lanes against his team.
