How to play Fiora?

I cannot, for the life of me, play Fiora.

Now I know you might be thinking "how can you not play such a strong top laner atm?", but I am really struggling.

I was an avid fan of her old kit, and really loved the rework, but now, I have no luck with her. I've only had about 2-3 games as her where I actually do well and go positive, but all other times I just get carried. I don't really understand why I can never do well with her, I've played her so much I actually got Master tier with her, but that obviously means nothing. If there are people out there who actually do know what they're doing could possibly give me some tips on her (or Top lane, cause I don't top very often) because I really wanna learn how to play her, but like I said, I need help.

I'm going to have to make a few assumptions based on you playing her pre-rework, sorry about that in advance.

Honestly, I'm not amazing with new Fiora, but have picked her up recently with decent success. First, She's less about raw melee dps now, you can't really go in, E and melee people down for a few seconds. From what I've gathered, laning phase is all about using Q to pop vitals and using the MS boost to get away from them. You also want to save your riposte for any high damage or CC abilities your opponent has, so they can't out trade you. Once you get ult things become a lot easier because you can Ult, Q in to a vital, E for the slow, and hopefully pop another vital or two. You probably won't get every vital, but it's a good idea to poke until 2-3 vitals can result in a kill. Hope that helps.

Like WyldeFyres mentioned, early on it is about using your Q to proc Vitals, so "poke" with your Q, parry CC/use E then auto to slow, crit, then by this time you could probably Q away, preferably onto an enemy minion to lower Q's cooldown ( you can switch the order in which you use W and E but always try to save W for CC if any). I always take ignite to get better kill potential early on, and it works so well with your ultimate, dat true dmg. I love going up against champions with CC since I feel it gives Fiora an advantage in a duel with them (W). With her Ultimate: if I take flash I will most likely blow it on getting behind the enemy to proc that vital point, since it willll be the hardest one, usually. I prefer taking Ghost since it has a lower cooldown, and it helps so much in proccing those ultimate vital points :3 . So, with Fiora's ultimate, E (slow), and ghost, I can force a flash or outright kill the enemy, and that's not even mentioning ignite. If they are overextended I do not need to use ghost and they will still use flash if they want to try to live.

As for the build, like WyldeFyres said, Tiamat to Hydra or Black Cleaver. I really like building Fiora defensively after Hydra, preferably Spirit Visage or Frozen Heart. Hydra helps way more in lane, with the minions there to life steal off of, its damage, and how it makes farming way easier. I have tried Blade of the Ruined King, but in top lane armor is built against me, so I feel Black Cleaver is better for more damage. In short, Ravenous Hydra is great for Fiora, so you cannot go wrong with it as a first buy ( I have yet to try Titanic Hydra on her though, might help my defensive build some) . After Hydra/black Cleaver, usually just defense, but if I am fed I might get a Youmuu's Ghostblade. thats all I know, glhf!
