What or who is Evelynn?

I've recently gotten into playing a lot of Evelynn. She's one of the very few assassins I enjoy playing, mostly because of her ability to stealth around the map and jump scare people. However one thing that really bothers me about her is...what the hell is she and what's her deal? I know she's an assassin for hire, but is she a mercenary? Does she work for anyone particular? Is she a succubus? Or a dark elf? Just curious what kind of direction Riot wants to take her.

My headcanon is that she was a thief/assassin for hire that was tasked to steal Mordekaiser's skull centuries ago.

She succeeded but the relic cursed her to forever tread between the realms of the living and the dead.

Her lore's just "eve's mysterious" anyways^^"

Honestly I think that Riot themselves doesn't know at this point.

She is one of the older champions and "mystery" was an acceptable backstory at that point. They already said that they plan to rework her,because they feel that she lacks in terms of core-thematics,so I guess that she will receive a lore update once they get to the rework(but she is doesn't seem to be a priority at this point)

I like to think she's a succubus, considering her apparel, voice lines, and theme.

Either that, or she's a spirit of rejection or anger.

I've never really thought of her as "ancient". I suppose she could be and it wouldn't really contradict my perception of how she entered her line of work.

It has been confirmed that Evelynn is from the Shadow Isles, when Twisted Treeline was updated and Shadow Isles champions received some interactions from the West and East Altar, they intentionally left Evelynn out. They might expand on her lore in the future, perhaps she might be the queen of the Shadow Isles or something.

Quick answer: Riot doesn't know.

Personally, she reminds me of the Scottish equivalent of a banshee, a fae that that would lead travelers astray with their beauty and then eat them alive. She isn't really much of a succubus (jacks guys off while they're sleeping to cause wet dreams. No, seriously). Nor is she much of a vampire.

Evelynn has always been a curiosity of mine. She's an old champion with outdate lore and visuals/gameplay. Lorewise, we know nothing! Riot is currently (hopefuly) thinking the same thing: "Who is she? What makes her unique? What can we do with her to make her feel awesome?". Until she gets some much needed attention, we can't know for sure where she's headed. Sry if that didn't help much :/

I actually want Evelynn to have her own vampiric species instead of being part of the Shadow Isles. I'm planning on making Evelynn's origin soon involving her being part of a vampiric-like race known as the Shadowborne.

as she is with tf at least in old lore i always assumed she was a thief that would fir with her safe skin and his invisibility. my guess is she tried to steal X magical item then the blessed ides event happened now she has powers. but this just my theroy , im too cant w8 to see what they do with her

Evelynn is probably just another Darkin like Aatrox, only in her own predatory way.
