Returning to Leblanc's W

I was wondering why sometimes when i use leblanc's w I can't return back for a half a second or two. And other time's i can return right back to it instantly. Is it a timing thing since when i just spam W to return it doesnt usually send me back instantly? Because i've seen pro players return back instantly as well.
