In Gold, I would occasionally go ward near the enemy's red buff so that we could keep track of their jungler. What a great idea, right? I'm such a good support. The other day, I discovered that this doesn't fly in Platinum. If you're going to go into the fog of war to place a ward, you better know where their team is. Even if you're Janna with boots of mobility, wait until you know it's clear. Don't risk it.

"I'm gonna go place a ward, I'll be right back." "ok"

"Hey guys, smell at that Janna over there by our red buff." "Yeah, lets get her!"

"You're on the wrooong side of the river." "Oh, Hi guys. Uh, I was just leaving." "Naw, you ain't going NOWHERE."

If our team is being bullied out of our own jungle so that I can't even ward (or my dummy teammates love chasing blind into the enemy's), I grab my favorite comfort pick support item;

oh so it stops working in platinum what a relief i thought warding buffs would stop working in silver so i still have bronze, silver, and gold to cherrish the moments i have with my wards

I think it's basically that they had more ward coverage than you do.

If they had their tri warded, and their the bush BEHIND red warded, it's not hard seeing you going there, and if waves allow it, it's not hard to make a catch onto you :)

You also can if you have truesight of everywhere you go and are sure they don't know you're there. And you can't just leave lane obviously heading in that direction or they might just be able to guess it, too. Also some champions like Lee can just ward anywhere and get away with it.
