Tft rework. Bring skill to the game. Not dumb luck.

OK so a few things that will help. First off, being able to build your own deck. The synergies are cool, but if you try to build synergies you risk getting stuck 8n an infinite reroll loop and never being able to get what you need. The pool of cards is just too huge. Sometimes u can make 3 golds sometimes zero. Being able to prep your own deck would go a long way to this actually being a tactics game and not a game of chance.

The other thing is making it so you only need 2 to fuse, not 3.since the rng is so crazy, having to find that 1 extra guy can mean the difference between a win or a loss. Again. Purely random with no skill involved. Your win or lose depends on rng and not tactics.

3rd, an item shop. I must have spent 50%+ of my gold per match just on rerolls trying to build a team. It's super boring going 5 rounds dumping all of your gold rerolling nonstop and leaving empty handed. An item shop would give us options to build our team how we want to, and make item dropping randomization less of a problem. Plus why do we only get to build one guy with items? Why are we not able to build our entire team with items like in league of legends?

Lastly the random carousel of guys to pick from. Just eliminate that mechanic entirely. It drags out the length of the match and is a source of frustration if someone takes the monster you need. Just let each person have their own carousel to pick from instead of fighting over it, or just eliminate it entirely. It's a bad mechanic.

Sorry, but people who are climbing aren't climbing because of RNG. They are climbing because they make the best of what they are given.

Once you reach ~ Gold I, you'll hit a pretty stone wall if you've just been climbing based on "RNG." Once you start looking through your opponents, you'll discover they begin to actually build exactly what counters YOU and everyone else the best, works around the items they are missing, or anticipates the early skirmish team wipe (Guardian Angel, Kayle, Kindred).

They'll start calculating every thing you do. Everything everyone does. They will calculate the spaces and the collision paths of every unit, and adjusting their positioning accordingly.

I have won #1 without items. I've won #1 without what seemed like a strong comp. Simply because.... I designed my team right to beat the people I was facing.

You don't get much choice in what comp you make without RNG. Because when you can't even make a gold 1* unit because the game gave you 8 then stopped entirely showing them, you aren't likely to win. Or when you get lots of silver units for a solid build and are dominating up around around stage 4-then suddenly the pool you are given seems to change so you can never get another one of that type (even though no one else is using them), you are screwed. Most games you are given 1 or 2 comps that you can actually build up to gold-but there is no way of knowing what they will be because the cards change so much. You can reroll 80g worth and never see that 3* unit again that you need to finish your build. For people with 'average' luck it's probably not that bad, but some of us have genuinely bad luck and even the pros couldn't climb with the crap we deal with

You do realize that "Gold" units are a trap? 90% of winning comps have either 0 Gold units or 1. Why? Because maintaining an econ, and items, and positioning are more important than the minimal stats a 3 Star champ gets (3 Star Garen is comparably as long lasting as 2 Star; he has a little more HP, and higher AD. But, given his innate weak defensive growth, he still dies as fast)

Stop trying to make 3 Star Champs. You'll win more.

P.S. The top ranked Challenger player has TWO accounts in the top 10

https://tracker.gg/tft/profile/riot/NA/DeliciousMilkGG/overview https://tracker.gg/tft/profile/riot/NA/MilkGG/overview

If this was RNG, one person wouldn't have two accounts in the top 10.

(And yes; he streams his games)

trying to get tier 3 champs isn't the problem....it's when a tier 3 is just handed out for free very early, and the stats aren't insignificant at all if it's a mage or an assassin that scale quite insanely with level.

Sukishoo1 votes

Only 3 stars that are "handed out early" would be from a 1 cost unit and late game those are still not going to always win. If you can get a 3 cost or above to 3 Star then you're better off but they are much harder to get.

You are doing it all wrong mate. Just watch some keane or Saint stream for some hours. You will soon understand why they are challenger. And sure you might not be able to spend gold as fast as them, but you will be able to make the right decisions. Like, when to opt out of a comp completely, what components you need to save to put on a specific unit, when you should roll down based on the number of units you need and their tier's chance of appearing,

If there are people around with 3 challenger accounts so soon after the mode's creation, it is not RNG, they are just skilled players.

it is more likely that people have multiple challenger accounts because this isnt a popular game and the pool of players is very small. The amount of randomness in any given match means they arent getting their on skill alone. Being able to counter your opponent only works if you have control over what happens, which you dont. getting what you need to counter the other person is sheer dumb luck, and assuming you dont get kicked out of the match because someone else just randomly happened to counter your team that you built to counter someone elses team, who that person out of sheer dumb luck happened to get 3 gold star champions way early on and is just wiping everyone regardless of comp.

Sukishoo1 votes

Yeah no, that is absolutely wrong. If it wasn't popular Riot would not have pushed to have the ranked mode and make the game permanent immediately.

Rubeido Montain1 votes

yeah, thats why its still in beta? its not "permanent" beta means it is still being worked on. basicly as the game stands right now its garbage and needs ALOT of work. it is FARRRRRRR from a finished product. I would imagine that riot is keeping a close eye on how many players it does have. If it was so popular that it had alot of people playing it, they would have pulled it out of beta and started to cash in on it. They dont, because id imagine people ESPECIALLY league of legends players, dont care for a game of chance. Their player base play tactics games, not poker.

Saezio1 votes

You MIGHT get unlucky and don't get the 2star tier 5 unit you want or the enemy might get a 3 star tier 4 unit and that would result in you getting SECOND place instead of 1st place. You still climb with that amount of bad luck.

Also, you can't examine a single game, you have to examine a much larger sample size. And NO people being consistently in challenger means they are doing something right (also tons of people I know came back to LoL just for TFT and never play SR) same as if someone is stuck in let's say gold in TFT they are doing something very wrong.

But if denial feels better for you keep believing it's dumb RNG luck.

I suggest you watch a couple challenger TFT streams ( not youtube where it's mostly highlight games) and count the games that person ends up bellow top 4.

nah theres is no point in putting any effort into this game. I dont like games of chance. I have been playing video games for over 20+ years and have played pretty much everything since green screens. This game is an abismal failure in its current state and i imagine it wont last a year before development is shut down entirely and the game fades away into a distant memory. The game is much like heroes of the storm, where they take an idea and ruin it. Heroes of the storm tried to be "unique" and "outside of the box" and wanted to create a moba that wasnt a moba, and this is league of legends attempt at making a tactics game and throwing in "unique" and "outside of the box" poker style RNG and calling it a tactics game. People come in with certain expectations, and are disappointed then leave again, just like I likely will.

In my opinion by lieing about what kind of game this is, they are hurting themselves. If they were openly honest about what kind of game this is, they could draw in the audience that likes poker style games of chance, and it would be given more positive reviews.

League of legends has an item shop. where is the item shop in this game? league of legends you get to pick and choose your characters and comps, where is that in this game? In league of legends you are evenly matched against your opponent as long as you dont feed, and you can cs decently. In this game your not evenly matched with your opponent because either you or him are lucky, no skill required. This is just a game of poker with league of legends slapped on it, and trying to capitalize on the name. Just like heroes of the storm hoped that the blizzard brand would be enough to carry it to success, and it didn't.

even in poker you have professional poker players. that doesnt mean that people go into the casino expecting to step out a millionaire because they are good at poker. They are going to leave broke.

Saezio1 votes

You are rambling on and on. You are just in denial.

The "Luck" factor, might be enough to make you finish 3rd instead of 2nd for example because the other person hit some lucky rolls. It won't make you finish 7th when you are more skilled than the top 6 people. So, it doesn't even matter in a large sample size of games.

And professional poker players are more skilled at the game and would beat someone like you 100/100 times and take your money, because they know how to play the game, they know the percentages of every thing happening in the game. And they know how to psychoanalyse you and get you to fold when you have the better cards and when to make you bet when you have the worse cards.

It DOESN`T matter if you have double aces and the other guy has 7/2 off if they simply fold that hand.

Rubeido Montain1 votes

it just shows the point. in this game we cannot bluff other etc. that element is out of the question. the truth of the matter is no matter how skilled that professional player is, if i was dealt a better hand than him. i win. no skill involved.

but there is no denial. This is a clone of the auto chess games that recently launched. They had an initial spike in popularity, and that time has passed. Currently on google play store, the top rated auto chess game doesnt even appear untill around 200 in the top 100 games ranked by popularity.

the game this style is modeled after was squad tower D from the starcraft II arcade, which was rated as the number one game in the arcade for as long as the game as been released. It is an epic game, and a perfect model to model this after.

the dota 2 version which spawned this flappy bird craze of this dumbed down adaptation of squad tower D, has already peaked and died off. The only hope this game has of seeing any success at all, is to return to the squad tower D model, and make it a true tactics game. othewise its just another clone of a bad game that isnt even in the top 200 of mobil platforms, and not even pc platforms. (which this is pretty much just a really poorly done mobil game on pc)

Saezio1 votes

If you were dealt a better hand than a pro, they lose ONE BB. They don't lose their stack. The skill is involved because when the pro has a better hand than you they take a good chunk of your chips.

You do know a poker tournament involves playing thousands of hands right?

You are not dealt a hand once and have to bet your house on that hand.

Same with TFT, if you don't have a good opener, it's smart to simply econ and lose streak UNTIL you can winstreak. Going for rolls when you don't need to just to "make your board better" is simply idiotic and a sign of a very bad player.

Rubeido Montain1 votes

using poker as an anology is all good and well to show that this is a game of chance, and is not a tactics game. The game is marketed as a tactics game and even is called team fight "tactics". if it wants to be a game of chance it needs to advertise itself as one and not lie to its player base who are tactics game players.

Imagine a basketball game, but everytime a player is about to make a basket. there is a man on a ladder who grabs the ball, then rolls a dice, and depending on the outcome of the dice roll, he places the ball in the basket or throws it back into the court. It is taking a game of skill, and making it all RNG based. That is what is happening here.

or perhaps a better analogy is taking a game of chess, but before you could capture any peice you had to roll a dice and if you failed the roll, you couldnt take that peice, then the opponent could roll a dice to see if they took your peice.

You cannot combine tactics and a game of chance and think it will be something people will play or enjoy. ESPECIALLY if your player base are tactics game players. Really it kinda shows how out of touch riot is becoming with their player base. They are pulling a blizzard "immortal" moment and creating a crappy mobile game for pc. It will backfire.

Even these players have discussed the variance being really high. Because of how large the volume of champs, you might be picking a totally unplayed comp type, and still not hit what you need. Already, I am pretty sure that the shops are seeded and not truly random. So if you get a seed that has a large amount of a certain class of units, it might pay you to go for a comp that is even in high demand, which is totally contrary both to intuition and to what they literally tell you that you should be paying attention to (how many people are going for a comp).
