Disable Parties in TFT Ranked; Players "Party Bombing" lobbies to cheat the system

(OP deleted because apparently TFT needs its own sub-board..)

Teamfight Tactics uses a system that has been taken advantage of to push players to the top. "Party Bombing"

Party Bombing: Filling the lobby with players intent on losing in order to push the victory of another player by removing opposition. How this is done:

8 Players in a match means 7 opponents. A party of 3 means 5 opponents.

Party Bombers use "pool blocking" to further remove opposition.

Pool Blocking: Champion rolls are taken from a community pool, thus players can purchase champions to directly attack the purchase power of opponents. Purchasing a Gnar when you see it is a good tactic to keep an opponent from receiving the Gnar, for example.

However, Party Bombers abuse "pool blocking" by dedicating 100% of their purchases towards the sabotage of a single player. What this does:

  • The saboteur will have a lesser army, having waited to purchase until observing the pattern of their opponent.
  • The saboteur will eventually lose having an inferior army, but will have also starved their opponent's army as well.
  • The specific opponent becomes behind in purchases, and this player can not win.

In the "party of 3" example, 2 players will attack 2 other players directly, leaving 3 TRUE opponents for the intended winner to face.

Parties need to be disabled. It is painstakingly obvious how choosing a handful of your opponents is easy to abuse.

other issues with parties:

  • 8 isn't divisible by 3, with 3 teams max, one team will have to be short 1 player
  • The classic ELO bridge where high ELO players can bunk low ELO games

If you're blocking someone, they're by definition blocking you too, which means they are just as able to force you into an early loss as you are to force them into an early loss... What do the saboteurs get out of this?
