So by all accounts Olaf is the new Draven of tft?

Shmeeve··6 votes·3,522 views

I mean, crazy healing, non stop damage, and won't stop smacking people to death and will do more so with the inclusion of a rageblade? Yep, that's pretty much draven builds from the tft beta. Edit: Thankfully he isn't range like draven.

I mean, the hints are generally in the team size, and also in the Spatula items...

In general, they removed offensive ally bonuses for traits. Infernal bonus is actually stronger than Sorcerer was, but they have to take the item to get the buff. Sorcerer only helped a champion with an AP stat. Infernal buff could be put on any champion.

To fight against Olaf, build Quicksilver, Red Buff, and Thornmail.

Not so much, if you're in the lead at carousel time.

If you specifically go for these over damage items, you likely won't even make it far enough to fight Olaf. Realistically, if another player has a similar level of luck to you (Or higher) and builds an Olaf comp, you just lose. Unless you're also going with an Olaf comp, of course. Aside from Olaf being overpowered on his own, he can easily build into poison, berserker, predator, and glacial all at once.

Olaf comps have MORE than replaced shapeshifter comps in terms of builds that literally have it all (No real counters whatsoever). They can freeze your entire team constantly, tank, do great damage, AND cuck you out of your spells. Oh, and they can also insta-kill you once you go below a certain level of health because of the predator execution bonus.

To be fair, olaf is more powerful than draven at this rate, no one cared much about draven's ability since your autos did more damage than it really, but olaf's just increases his attack speed more, bonus range, and free healing for the remainder of the match, all without the need of items.

And dont forget about the aoe stun

Ive played 2 games of set 2 and the best comparisons I can make it Vlad/Shyvanna and Renekton/Darius.

SImilar builds and carry potential. Ren has basically the same spell as darius just smaller but instant. Shyvanna and Vlad both heal insane amounts and can be just unkillabe

I can't verbalize it yet, but I think of Kindred holding the spot that Shyvana did. Shyvana had much more carry potential than Vladimir.

Annie takes Gnar's place. Brand subs for Aurelion Sol.

I'm thinking Zed reminds me of Swain, probably.

As a class, Infernals are supposed to take the place of Sorcerors, but they're considerably weaker, as there is no $5 Infernal; usually, to build the 6 you need to include two $1 champions, and the class trait is much weaker, since it does not apply to allies. Sorcerer included two cheap high CC units (Lulu and Morgana); Infernal has nothing like that.

Summoners would replace Shapeshifters, as a class, and their trait is parallel. The Group is stronger, since a 6-comp includes two $4 champions, while Shapeshifters had two $1 champions. I think that Shapeshifters had more convenient synergies.

Berserkers replace Brawlers, and Olaf takes Cho'Gath space, but I don't recall Cho'Gath ever feeling this unbeatable.

Just played a few more games, yeah vlad isnt as strong as I originally thought. I feel Mages replaced Sorecers since their bonus is so similar (extra cast compared to stronger cast) They have similar abilities with Veigar/Brand staying the same then a heal (though only self) and though they are lacking a large CC.

Infernals appear to have replaced demons, with Varus and Brand and Zyra (elise counterpart) being an infernal now though the actual demon effect is more moved to poisonous.

I feel a poisonous/predator comp is replacong the yordle mages while glacial berserker is similar to glacial rangers.

Ocean seems to be taking the place of Noble as a strong origin that can work as a full set or branch into others.

As for the legendaries, I feel they are entirely unique. There is a slight resemblance between Yi/Kai Sa completing a powerful set and then Taric/Pantheon seem to be matching for their role as completing a defensive carry.

its hard for me to complain about Olaf because there are SO MANY things to complain about this patch, that Olaf almost needs to be broken just so theres a way to counter all the other broken BS. Like Light+Summoner Zeds. Or Kindreds 1shotting anything they hit every 1second. Or Singed running around with AP items. Or Zyra with a Mage Spatula(trololol why are there 700 plants on my screen?)

He's Draven on steroids.

Draven was okay, I felt Jinx was a lot better in most comps though.

ahem

Guinsoos x2 + RFC = 600 Range Olaf (and with the Berserker fix, the Cleave passive now procs from the enemy hit.)
