Just tried a game of TFT after a couple of months

As the title says, the other day I tried my first TFT match in a couple of months. I had played it pretty consistently for maybe a week after it came out, but then decided to stop as the balance was pretty horrible and it felt like nothing but a gamble on items.

Well, they fixed the items, somewhat, I guess. And the new champ iterations are pretty cool, I had no idea they had added so many new champs to the game. But then by round 3 someone got a level 3 Renekton, and the game was over. They won the game without losing a single round, because no one else could even get a level 3 champ 20 minutes into the game.

This game mode is still too dependent on RNG to be fun. At least in card games you get to choose the cards you play with, you know if you have a bad starting hand you can pick another, etc. In teamfight tactics you just have to hope that the RNG gods give you the champs that you want and the items that you need. There is a definite disparity in power between items, and power between champs. This would warrant some kind of game plan, but the RNG just proves that moot most of the time, it seems.

I dunno. I'd love to like this mode, but it will forever feel poorly balanced to me.
