I'm finding it harder and harder to believe that it's as RNG as you say it is, considering there's always at least one players who gets almost nothing all game and always at least one player who gets EVERYTHING they could dream of. You really need to narrow that gap so that the quality of games improves.
They already have an item protection system, where the player who doesn't get anything early will get more items during the krugs/raptor rounds.
Five gold means fuck all if I'm using it as experience to put a sixth unit on my team that absolutely doesn't go with my comp. Similarly, five gold means fuck all if I blow it on rerolls to get absolutely nothing. I'd rather have the item. But Lord knows even if it DOES give me an item, it'll be something comPLETELY worthless for the absolutely shit show of a comp the game is feeding me. "oOo u HaVe tO lEaN iNtO rNg tHo!" Eat my ass.
