3 Mage, 4 Ocean, 3 Inferno, Amumu

Ocean + Mage or 6 inferno are just strong comp but not OP. But if you get Amumu and Mage’s cap or Cynder you can create an almost invincible comp with 8 units: 4 Ocean, 3 Mage, 3 inferno, 3 warden.

Amumu (1 ap, 2 tank items) can be the second carry and the protector (his stun) against assassins. Annie with mage cap can be the third carry.

The only way to beat this comp is tank Singed + 2 Poison.

Mage/inferno/ocean with Amumu (that replace Malph) are the most flexible comp. Because if you don’t get Cynder/Mage’s Cap then you can go 6 inferno or 4 mage+3 Mage+2 Mystic/4 Warden. Maybe that’s why players chose them.

Of course there’re more options such like Blender Noc, Khazix+summoners, Olaf, 2 Soulbound but these are less flexible.

Unfortunately rangers have a big issue to be viable: they walk into the enemies. I don’t know why Riot didn’t fix it.

Late game (typically when there's only 4-5 people left) is usually decided by getting 5 cost units. Usually first place will be someone with a 2 star Amumu, Singed, or Zed. That or they're running Blender. You might be able to get a first without those if you get a powerful 3 star unit (like Kindred or one of the 4 costs) but the game needs to end early. Taric and Nami are also very powerful. Master Yi is okay but probably won't carry unless you get specific comps to support him and the right items.

2star amumu is one of those default win scenarios. Hes like the 2star Kayle of 2020.

Another reason that players go mage/inferno is items. Seraph, Rabadon and Morello work great on Mage/Inferno. Mage+Inferno are 13 units and they can cover early, mid and late game.

If you want a good Olaf you have to put on him Rageblade and BT, but these items are good for Rangers, Noc and Sivir but compared to the power of AP/mana items on mage/inferno is too poorer.

For sample Seraph/Rabadon/Morrelo on Zyra/Kindred is much more powerful than Rageblade/BT on Vayne/Kindred.

Seraph works great on Khazix too, so I rather prefer to prepare Seraph or AP items for mage/inferno/assassins instead for Olaf/Rangers.

IMO Olaf falls behind as ADC because there's no tier 1-3 unit to keep Olaf's items (to work better with Olaf's items).

A sample for Seraph: Start on Zyra/Malzahar/LB/Neeko than transfer it on Kindred (if he comes) and than mid-late game to Brand/Annie/Khazix. Work like a charm.

Conclusion: Seraph is one of the best offensive starting item.
