Confusing turn of events

So like most people, I've been trying out the new game mode. However an event happened to me twice so far that I'm unable to understand. Now while I shouldn't be complaining (and I'm really not), I can't help but wonder why it happened. Here is the situation:

"Another player and I are the last two standing in a TFT game, it's the last moments of the final match, and I am down to my last champion with little health remaining, while my opponent has between 2-4 left at about 1/3 health. For all intents and purposes, this person got that first place victory, no Faker-ish comeback for me. Then all of champs on the board suddenly disappear, the game ends and the big "victory" prompt comes up on my screen.

Now, during this first incident, I just chalked it up to "Oh heck, my carry must have pulled a miracle at the buzzer and I missed it somehow" and enjoyed the feeling of winning my first ever TFT game. The next day however, the second incident happens, all champs disappear and I get the victory screen. The second game it was even MORE clear that I was only getting second place."

So the reason for this post is to find out if anyone has had this situation occur to them before? Or am I just confused and both the first and second place get that victory prompt?

Mmmmm, I'm pretty sure it's a Victory Screen for all of 1st, 2nd and 3rd. But I don't rememberrrrrr.

If you think there is some weird bug in the final round, just compare it with the endgame post screen, not with the victory screen.

Use that to determine if something went awry. You should be ending up with a victory screen and 2nd place on the post game screen.

Appreciate the answer. Oddly enough, I have yet to have/see an endgame post screen like you get in most game modes. Once I get out of the match the client just goes back to the main screen client page.

This happened to me today. I was left with one other player and I lost and I got a victory screen when it should of been 2nd place. I've gotten 3rd place before but didn't get a victory screen.
