Reporting System public ban reports

So I've been playing this game for several years now and any time I report a player for a punishable action (or in-action), in the back of my head I wondered "How will I learn if reporting this incident will even do anything, or am I just wasting my time?". I'm sure most of us have had similar thoughts either when deciding to take the time to report, or after a report was filed. I mean most players that know they are going to get reported don't care, or even laugh at the prospect of it. Simply because a lot of players don't even feel like the reporting system is used much by Riot, except for the most egregious of offenses.

In the organization that I work for, we have a monthly public report provided to employees that give a synopsis of situations and punishments that have been fettered out to individuals. The guilty parties are never ousted by name, simply their position within the organization. The purpose is two fold but both are as a deterrent for any future bad actions.

  1. To show that actions by management ARE being taken against those that break the company rules. Essentially to let everyone know actions they take ARE being watched. And if reported by someone, management pays attention.
  2. Knowing that #1 is taking place, to deter future bad acts by individuals, through both the punishment, but also the fear of being found out that you are one of the individuals in the report.

The more I play League and the more negative players I meet, the more I feel that if Riot were to implement something in a similar vein to what I wrote above that both as a company but more importantly the player community would improve. However, I am curious how fellow players feel about Riot potentially implementing something like this? As far as where it could be uploaded, well "Player Behavior" in the forums would be a good start.

If something like this already exists I would like to know haha.

Something like that already exist, sometimes when players you report get a punishment, you get a pop up saying such. But for whatever asinine reason, it doesn't pop up everytime.

It's true that the clarity of the system sucks, as you'll only recieve feedback if the game you reported the player shows up in their reform card and the reform card only shows 1-5 recent games as examples of unacceptable behavior, and games beyond that time frame will not be shown.

Rest assured that your correct reports do actually do something in the background. The system punishes based on consistency x severity, meaning one can be punished for 1 game of extreme toxicity or many many games of mild toxicity. Those valid reports you make add to the reported player's behavioral history, and when they pass a certain toxicity threshold, they get punished.

Monthly Report Cards was a cool community project that will provide the system with more clarity. Sadly, it probably won't be implemented.

You work for a toxic organization that is focusing on the wrong things. Even without names being posted, this is a form of public shaming and not something any organization should take part in. Keep the employees on and educate them on how to reform, or fire them, not some half-cocked measure at management thumping their chests to keep employees in-line.
