I just don't understand the point...

...of the "? chest". They are just a big inconvenience, forcing you to move into them to actually get the reward. They add NOTHING to the game, the old system was just fine.

They take the place of, they are actually, skins, as far as TFT is concerned. That's fine.

They would be just as desirable, whether to be purchased or played for, if the game didn't require them to scramble onto the board to collect chests.

They didn't do this for the first patch or two. We play TFT when we DON'T want to manipulate characters on a screen. The draft... I kind of get. It's part of the design. But having to collect the chests manually is pointless. It does nothing to sell these avatars.

I believe riot did this on a purpose because some players were asking why do we have these stupid avatars when there is no point moving.

So the answer was this.

If you don't collect the chest, it's not lost... the contents will fly onto your side bench in the middle of the next round.

Mini form of loot boxes. People find surprises addicting and thus now the drops are also 'surprises'.

I just find it to disappointing however when I'm hoping for an item and 99% of the time it's a single gold. I would have legit just rather gotten nothing than false hope.
