TFT feedback from a new platinum player

Hello. I am a new player, to both LoL and TFT. Friends got me to try LoL and then TFT. I found the latter to be far less complicated than the former, and, most importantly, far less toxic. I've been playing mostly TFT for the past 3 weeks. Last night I got promoted to Platinum, and perhaps this is a good time to share some thoughts on the game so far. This is my first post, and I've read the rules of this forum, sorry if I've missed something.

Carousel draft This is the first thing that happens in the game. And this is where it immediately becomes unfair. Somebody gains a massive advantage just for lagging less or clicking faster - things that have nothing to do with the actual game of TFT. Most of the time, there is a 'spatula' (btw, it's missing from the list of items on this forum) on one of the champions. And whoever grabs it is granted a huge endgame bonus: an extra team member with a little more luck, or just an extremely powerful champion such as Annie item 3090.

But why is this possible? In subsequent drafts, the players are released in the reverse hp order, so that makes sense: those who need the most help get it first. But in the very first draft where everybody is still even - this is just completely unfair.

Suggestion: Remove the spatula from the first draft. Nobody should gain a massive advantage with skills that have nothing to do with this game.

Annoying and griefing other players Carousel draft is also the only time where the players have an opportunity to actively grief and annoy each other. And boy, do they! As I already mentioned, TFT community looks far less toxic than LoL. After all, when everybody else benefits from your mistakes, they don't have a reason to insult and berate you, they want you to keep playing badly. But that still doesn't mean they are not going to try and screw you.

The most common way of griefing I've encountered is grabbing a champion and continuing to run along with the carousel, mixing in with the remaining champions, confusing other players into thinking that your champion/item is still available, baiting them into trying to grab it while you are on top of another champion - and laughing when they get something useless to them instead. "EZ TRICK NOOB!!"

Even when not done maliciously, it's still bad when players grab a champion and just stand right there in the carousel. I personally have always moved away from it, and I found that most players in the higher ranked games do the same courtesy to each other. But still that kind of behavior needs to be stopped.

Suggestion: once a player grabs a champion from the carousel, move that player away from the carousel and prevent them from re-entering it.

And then there is Shisa. I don't know who thought that adding a shrieking banshee to an auto-chess game was a good idea, but this Little Legend is abused a lot by kids that like to annoy the living crap out of everybody else. Spamming Shisa's shriek emote non-stop during the draft is a sure way to get on everybody's nerves. Thankfully, there seems to be a strong correlation between skill and maturity levels, and I've almost stopped seeing the shrieking Shisa's once I got out of Bronze. But still...

Suggestion: replace the Shisa shriek emote with something less irritating.

Game balance The most obvious 'OP AF' champion is Olaf. A brief glance at this forum confirms my suspicion. I've never seen a 3-star Olaf (or any other T4+ champion for that matter; the game is usually over before anybody can collect 9 of them), but even a 2-star version with Guinsoo is extremely powerful. And if it manages to get a couple more items such as Olaf item 3124 item 3046 item 3072 then it's just 'gg'. Yes, I know, it can be countered. But the counters are too exotic. Even if there is somebody playing one of the very few builds that can kill a fully equipped 2-star Olaf, this one champion can still carry you to the 2nd or 3rd place finish with good +LP.

As for the 'weakest and most useless', it's a toss-up between Neeko and Vayne for me. Neeko is 'that other druid' that should only be used if you get too many of her and too few Maokai's and Ivern's. For the Woodland bonus, LeBlanc is much better too, since she can connect with Mages and Assassins. And I've heard that Vayne used to be much stronger but got nerfed. If that's the case then she got over-nerfed. I've seen her used in Light builds but she seems to be just there for the numbers.

Suggestion: nerf Olaf, buff Neeko and Vayne.

That's all I'd like to say for now. Thank you for reading!

They nerfed light into oblivion. All the complaints on the boards about "OP AF" and not one of those complaints was about light, and yet that's what they nerfed, further limiting the number of viable comps to about--what--three? Every time they try to balance the game they legitimately make it worse. They don't fix machine gun Veigar. They don't fix Olaf, they just slightly nerf glacial passive, which makes the rest of the glacial champs slightly worse while Olaf still perma-freezes everything he touches. They really don't seem to know what they're doing, and they don't seem to pay attention to the boards at all. I know there are people testing the new stuff before it rolls out, but every time they roll out a new patch it seems even less balanced, so whatever they're doing...it's wrong.

I don't see a problem with spatula in the first round. You are actually gimping your early game by taking it round one before you have any champions to supplement it with. Having the bonus stats or effects from actual items in the first rounds is far more important than having a "maybe I can get mage Annie or light Yi 20 rounds from now." It can work out and be great, but it is also a huge gamble and will likely lead to you getting 8th place before getting the exact thing you want.

Forgot to add 1 more thing about annoying other players: the pings. They have no meaning in TFT. They are, however, used to spam other players.

Suggestion: disable pings in TFT.
