Complete removal of the RNG of TFT or at least SIGNIFICANT reduce of the effect it has to the game

Rng in a gamemode that is simply normal is fine. But when it has ranked mode in it, well rng is just stupid.

Let's take chess. Chess is one of the oldest and most popular games that has ranked option in it. Think if Chess would have rng? At the start of the game GM Magnus Carlsen would instead of queen and rooks get pawns in their place. Now GM Ben Finegold who is a VCERY GOOD professional player also but nowhere close to the skill of Magnus Carlsen, gets instead of rooks and queen, 3 queens. Now there is not much Carlsen can do in this situation because the lead is so overwhelming in this level player make very few mistakes.

Now let's take another popular game with ranked mode. League of Legends Summoner Rift 5v5

Think about starting the game. You get double gold at start, What fun you have 1000 gold to spend GREAT. Then you walk to the lane and see your opponent. He has lvl 11 champion with IE, RFC and statikk shiv to start with. It soon comes clear to you that you have no chance unless the player is WAY below your skill lvl. However matchmaking should find players matching your skill level so it's not to be expected.

Now to TFT After first 3 you might only get 8 gold when another player might get starter item + 5 items. That means 3 full items for the other player. He doesn't have to use gold to buy xp or refresh because he is set with items so he can just save for lategame and buy champs when rng gives them to him. While the other player has to pressure about keeping up with the guy with loads of items.

The champion store might have favored the same player with enough of the same champions to have 1 or even 2 tier 2 champions meanwhile the store has given you totally mixed pool of champions and you don't even have one tier 2 champion.

How to fix this?

Complete removal of RNG would be best option in my opinion. Adding more champions and items to the game mode will make lot's of different compilations possible giving diversity to the game, the real and fun kind of diversity that keeps players returning year after year. Every round gives gold based on same factors they do now. Only there is completely open Item shop and completely open champion shop. The amount of champions and items cost is obviously increased based on the power of the item and champion. The cost of both champions and items could go up the more people buy them. For example if elise costs 1 gold and it's been bought for example 3 times the cost goes up to 2 after it's been bought 6 times it goes to 3 etc. This makes the game PURELY skill based.

If the rng must stay. Then the effect of it should be reduced.

After every neutral camp every player gets to choose from let's say 3 different items or gold. This makes sure everyone gets the same amount of items or gold worth the items. The amount of gold given should be increased to match the value of 1 item. 1 or 2 or 4 gold doesn't match the value of 1 item. Dragon and Elder dragon should still give 1 full item or a shitload of gold but still you could choose what to pick. This makes luck still a small factor but gives a lot more control to the player himself.

The champion store should be either increased to 10 or the cost of refresh reduced to 1 if it must remain to work as it is. Right now you can easily use 40 gold to refreshes and not get the champion you are looking for even if nobody else is building that champion. Meanwhile someone get's lvl 3 champions at round 2-4 (that's the 7th round) or earlier.

And It doesn't matter if you are the lucky one, while it's obviously more fun to be over powered than under powered but for me a good game is one that challenges your mind instead of challenging your luck.

Here's my five cents

One option would be to allow you to pick a free champion and/or item of your choise once per stage. This again gives you more control of what you can do.

Found your post after I saw player "GM Ben Finegold" play a game against Tidesoftime in NA TFT GM game. Idk if it's really him? :p

anyways...

I think RNG can be good. Part of what makes games like poker, table top games, and TFT so fun is the RNG! You go into a game not knowing what'll happen, and there's sort of an addiction to hoping you get the "nuts hand", like 2-star karthas at level 6. Sure removing RNG would make a more competitive game, but if you want pure flawless battle of the minds competition, then... why not just play chess? ...

Yeah, no.

Yes, there is a lot of rng in TFT, but there are systems to deal with RNG.

The skill comes in your decisions with what you do with what youre given. Like literally every other card/board game in existence.

RNG has a very low effect on games compared to skill.

Like the main issue is items. The items you get are random and that's like not cool but one can live with it. But what I can't stand is that some players get 10 items and some players get 3 items in the same game. That's just plain unfair
