I played TFT for the first time today, but there is a major issue with it...

With no changes in my own strategy, the only difference between me finishing dead last and winning outright was RNG.

It really seems odd that I dont really need to care too much about comps, placement strategy, and other "teamfight tactics" so long as the answer to the following two questions is a resounding YES.

  1. Did I get level 2 and 3 champs before other people?
  2. Did I get good items from minions and the draft?

Not sure what this says about the gamemode as a whole...

Teamcomps do win you the game though, or at least lets you end highly ranked.

Yesterday i played a round in which i got a terrible start, had terrible luck with rolls early, got almost no items and got slapped around silly to the point where i was dead last with a margin of 20 points despite wanting to not lose so badly.

But i kept buying in units for a comp fitting for the very few items i had and i even managed to assemble it in quick order shortly after, which took me from being dead last with 13 health (everyone else had 40-80 at that point) to being number 2 while nr 1 only had 20 left......bugger beat me in the end though :(

Having a strategy while being adaptive is what really lets you shine in games.......betting on dumb luck that you´ll get early gold stars+items isnt really a consistently winnable bet-

Of course beating the guy with 3 items over you who also sits on like 6 gold units against your 1 is probably not gona be doable, but that guy wont always exist, or i wouldnt have a heap of games that i actually won^^

Compare it to poker Poker is also a lot of luck to get good cards but still it's always the same pro's on the final table. Teamfights tactics is to know what champs you go and which items are good on themand which combos you can build early or better late. When to switch champs or comps, when to lvl up, when to roll etc etc. Also it doesn't matter if you lose your first 9 fights. You can drop on 1 HP losing every game and then you have the ultra comp and no one can beat you anymore. With the next patch comes a ranked System. Then you can prove it and you will see it's not just RNG.

The only things the gamemode needs to be better

  1. round robin draft, not this bs "get put with the same guy who counters you three times in a row"

  2. give each player an even number of items. No, not "everyone gets close to the same amount of items." the exact same amount of items.

Collecting champions for your team comp can be worked around, but items and drafts can't.

it was your first time. did you consider that it might have been the first time of others in your matches as well? and even if it wasn't maybe they weren't any good?

at that point anyone could have won.
