very sour beta pass experience
Today I sent a ticket explaining my situation, I'll paste it here.
I really enjoyed the mode and i was excited to be able to show it by wearing the highest tier TFT beta icon, but when i did the math, it turned out that I would be 10 points short at the end. Today, july 25, I have 3180 points. I had already claimed my orb this morning, and i have one final mission to play 8 games to round 20 for 70 points. Since the pass resets on monday, I will only have three more orbs from now until then. This means that I only have 310 points possible to grind from now until the pass ends, and I feel really disheartened that all this work will go to waste just because of 10 points. I would be very happy if they could be granted to me, thank you.
I was optimistic but kind of expecting to be let down. The person who answered my ticket was very nice, they said:
Hey there, [name] from Player Support reporting in! Aw man.. I don't have the greatest news and sadly we're not able to give extra points to players because there was a 900 point buffer :/ I know this really sucks but there will be a lot of content coming out in the future that you can look forward to earning. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to hit us up. Hope you have a good day. [signature] Riot Games Player Support
While I understand that there were points I missed out on, I feel as though the framing of the amount they told me was extremely unfair. I completed most missions (I believe I only missed out on two 70pointers, thats all I remember missing). I didn't calculate the exact amount I missed, But to be 910 points away from the maximum just seems wrong. It leads me to believe that the TFT team had calculated the maximum amount of points possible by factoring a perfect record of claiming daily orbs. This means that in the perfect account one would claim every orb the moment it was available. This is flawed because of several reasons that I, and probably literally everyone else, experienced.
I'm going to be honest, I didn't live around my orb clock. I didn't have an alarm telling me that it would be up at X time. While I played a lot of TFT, the orb wasn't always available while I was playing. It could have been a few hours away, and I would log off before that. When im not on league, i'm not thinking about my orb. This led to several occasions where the orb would sit unclaimed for hours, and the timer would only reset after it was claimed, instead of when it was made available. I feel as though everyone's orb should reset at the same time, at the start of the day, that way everyone could redeem their daily orb at any point of the day. Under that system, one would not need to minmax their daily orbs.
Just yesterday, I played a ton of matches with my buddy. We played all day. Before my final game I looked at the TFT screen and saw that I had maybe two hours left until my final orb. After the final game that night I was done playing and logged off, not thinking about the orb, and didn't claim it until like two hours after I woke up the next morning. The orb sat there for 12 hours, and the timer didn't reset until 12 hours after it was available. Similar things happened throughout my beta pass experience which explains why there were a whole 910 points missing from my maximum total.
Now i'm not writing this just so i can get 10 points and claim my final reward that I worked night and day for, but I do enjoy TFT and thought I would give my two cents by identifying a problem in the system and an easy solution to it. I hope to see TFT improve in all the right ways and this is one thing that needs improving.
