Little Legend Egg Bundle unnecessary?

Is there anywhere noting that you don't have to buy the Egg/Icon bundle in order to get the LL of your choice?

Bought the bundle (thanks to a friend) thinking I needed the "base" before I could get any of the "skins" from the Series Rare Eggs, though apparently you don't need to do that? Would be nice if there was some info of that anywhere.
