I'm being punished for gaining LP and being high rank.

I have been climbing nonstop since TFT came out. I'm currently Gold 1 with 75 LP.

Last game I LOST 4 LP FOR GETTING 4th PLACE The game before that I gained 8 LP for 3rd place.

Is this a joke?

I get 15 LP for GETTING 1st PLACE IN GAMES WTF

Why is riot ranking me with silver 4s and bronzes and giving me 0 LP when I am queuing solo queue ranked??????????

If you don't have golds to pair me with, pair me with plats, I haven't seen a single plat in any of my games and I ask around. Don't make my climb impossible, make a better system.

No one should have to be getting 15+ "wins" and 0 losses to go up one division. It's wasting my time.

Plus on the games that the RNG screws me over, I lose MAJOR LP, like 40 LP for one loss.

Edit: Well I played 2 games with Plats today, I took 3rd and that promoted me, then my first game in plat I took first and it gave me 58 LP for the first place. Seems like the MMR of my opponents varies game to game. But at least it's working enough to climb. I'm happy.

Are you playing with your friends which screw up your MMR?

Maybe there's nobody in plat online at the moment. TFT is popular with the lower ELO ranks but I don't think it's that popular for quick queue times.

I'm plat, get matched with other plat players but still gain 37 per win and lose 80 per loss.

I see this in Diamond as well. With the meta in such a roulette gambling state... it feels really bad to place 1st,6th,2nd,6th and stay at about the same LP.

What you ask for doesn't make sense. You rather play with plat than silver to gain more lp. But the plat player will have the same problem playing with you.

There isnt much difference between P4 or P3 and G1. G1 and S4 or bronze is a way bigger difference in comparison.

The more you climb the less player you have. On average you should play with worst player. TFT have less player than summoner rift.

There is a noticeable difference between P4 and G1, and I think it's because of the demotion shield which means you have to lose a lot of games to drop from plat. This could mean an unlucky losing streak, but this could just mean that a player must consistantly place worse than his opponents in order to drop from plat. But I'm in G1 right now, and P4 just yesterday.

G1 games are much less stressful in that there is usually a bigger difference between 1st place and last place, so if you're 1st you can pretty much coast along and chill, unless your computer crashes or something. In P4, the games are really close and I've seen tons of guys start out 1st place and end up 6, 7th or 8th.

The meta in G1 and P4 are also different. Golds like to play 6 of something (6 knight, 6 noble or 6 demon) while Plats prefer Brawler, Void and Glacial. If you play in G1 vs P4 you have to adjust your playstyle to match.

My winrate in Gold is around 15% while in plat it's 5%. I often just stick by P4 with 0 LP because I have a lower than average (about 40%) top 4 rate there but a 60% in gold. This means I can almost consistently climb from Gold 1 to Plat 4 every time I drop into Gold but will never make it to Plat 3.

There is also a difference between LP gains and losses. In P4, I lose 50 LP for 7th and more than 75 for 8th and in G1 I lose 50 LP for 8th btw.

Yea to be fair, TFT is pretty new, so the amounts of players in these divisions is way smaller than SR ranked. I guess the individual skill differences are also more apparent in there. However, even if you consider this, you prove it yourself by hovering around these 2 ranks. The difference in 1 or 2 divisions is by far smaller than an entire tier and a half.

Then again I don't play TFT ranked myself, so this is just a position from my knowledge in SR ranked. Perhaps the individual LP gains/losses are currently very strict with mmr and are gonna have a better distribution once there are more players?

Wow I didn't know it was even possible to lose LP at 4th place

Yeah that sounds problematic.... 4th place should be a safety net since you cant win top 3 every game. The RNG will occasionally be so bad that there is nothing you can do about it... c'mon riot

My guess based on my own experience is that there is a hidden mmr like normal ranked. So you are seeing lower gains because your mmr us lower than your current rank. I got to play very quickly but at plat I am losing more games and now my lp gains are around 45 for a win when they were around 80 in gold.

I feel the same... I really don't understand this logic of low LP gains. It is frustrating and stupid. One game i stayed 7th place on gold 4 and i lost 42 LP and the next game.i got first place and I won 37LP. There is no logic on this... It is like if you would watch a football match and everytime someone would score you would get a random point value for that score... It is just silly. Also because if you lose a match with 0 LP you are demoted... So what's the logic of forcing people to get stuck in a league? To get frustrated, to get demoted(?) and stop playing the game at some point as a result of that frustration and unfair/unbalanced LP gains... I stopped playing league for awhile because of all the LP coz when you reach gold you need struggle to maintain the LP. I started to enjoy TFT during beta as I thought they had fixed this LP bulls* when I saw 85points for a 1st place victory but now... I see TFT trying to pull me down by giving less points the more I climb... For what reason exactly? It is not like if we only have one rank, there are so many... And if you easily get demoted and lose points the rewards should always feel fair not variable amount of points ...

It is a pyramid. The higher you climb the smaller the space. It is working exactly as it should. Also, as more people join TFT ranked LP gains will continue to get worse and worse. It is already getting to where 5th place finish loses you more than 3rd place wins you at gold 1 where as 2 weeks ago you'd get triple for 4th place win as a 5th place loss, purely because more ppl are gold 1.

Compound that with the shitty meta... and you have tft
