Is there a reason why we can't take items off?

I feel like that puts so much more skill expression in the game for skilled players. It increases adaptability.

edit: without selling the unit.

And decreses decision making. No thanks.

My guess is that it has something to do with "planning ahead". Meaning you will not give an item to a champion unless it is going to stay there or if you're going to replace that champion at some point.

There is one way. If you have a unit with a spatula you can remove the spatula by equipping them with a transformation item of a type that they already are. For instance, you cannot put a Youmuu's on a Zed so if you combine it on him by either adding a sword to a spatula or vice versa it will automatically be removed from him.

In this respect, the rules are the same as LoL. You can't give your items to a teammate in LoL, and you can't transfer items between players in TFT either. You should be used to it by now...

Keeping the items when you sell the unit is a concession.
