Honest TFT Review and Thoughts.

First let me start by saying I've been a giant proponent of TFT since its launch. For anyone who played WC3 or WC3TFT its pretty fun to see some side game types. Now before the LOL fanboys jump in and start ravaging my body I understand im not a pro-platinum rank 10 player. I have however played this game since Alpha and witnessed it evolve from a 10 champion brawl where Heimer could stack 100 turrets to what it is now... that said... lets continue..

Im not sure how Riot is trying to implement this gametype into a functional and equal playing field. Sure its in testing and has some quirks to work out but I'm baffled by the concept. Here me out. If you do amazing early you are punished by last pick of items/champs. For the sake of argument if I get all my "Demon" champs early and sit with a solid team (Based on luck of the draw and RNG mind you) I'm still forced to sit and watch at mid round select as the full level items are taken or im forced to select Negatron cloak number 1000. On the other side of that note if I decided to lay back and see how champ select unfolds im forced into hoping and praying other teams or my champs I need are selected.

So... in a nutshell we have a "Ranked" gametype based on pure RNG and random draw. If the normal game was based on these same characteristics this game would be a total flop.

Here we go into the next phase of my suggestions... at this point if you have continued reading the 10 year old League fan boys have had their way with me and I've crawled through their trolling of mass proportion.

-Winning rounds grants you points. Keeping the champion random in mid game 100% random. If I'm wrecking keep the draw of that champ random. Take items off the champs and turn items into a purchase style selection

-If you want to base a game around champion type vs champion type and counter with items keep the points you have when winning rounds. At mid round you can buy, select or purchase items based on team needs or countering other team needs.

-Hextech is a cool concept and much needed but I think the duration lasts a litttttle to long. Lower it just a bit.

If Riot can take a little more RNG or random out of the gametype and make it a little more strategic im ALL in but to be honest where it is right now... you have a complete random and act of faith gametype you slapped rank on. Makes zero sense. Thanks again and hope this all sounded somewhat constructive. If you got to this end and you feel the need to just rage mode my post please save it. As long as I've played this game im immune to your flame. Love you guys and keep up the good work. Thanks for the hard work and I hope to see you all in the arena <3

  1. Wins are generally not based on RNG. I have 4 accounts Plat + right now, and it's due to consecutive wins, once I learn what works in a meta. In other words, RNG doesn't stop me from completing that winning build.

I can go through three different team comps within a single game and still end up with that finished build at the end which gets #1.

That's not random. That's adapting. Only after about Plat I do you start to struggle with RNG.

  1. You should be making team comp decisions not around items you might get, but certainty of champions/levels you WILL get. This means Econ. This means not taking too much damage early by only "barely losing." rather than losing hard or "winning." This means knowing your Demon team might not get a Sorcerer item, and that your whole win contingent is around that Sorcerer item. This means knowing your Demon team is not going to survive vs teams that don't rely on mana, have greater mana gain, or rely on items to do damage. This means knowing a single Karthus can wipe out your demon team before they even charge their own mana. This means positioning so Hextech doesn't 100% disable you. This means positioning so that you have the best chance of hitting a Noble back line.

P.S. being able to swap items without a consequence is NOT a good thing for this game.
