A few moths ago RIOT hyped us up for this -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e_N4WpqH5o -- which even though it was labeled as pre-beta seemed pretty far into dev. Now what exactly happened to our Visual Update for Summoner's rift? Did I just miss something important here or was this project dropped without any notice?
Oh no, it's still being worked on. It's on the PBE now, in fact.
They're putting off release till Preseason comes around.
(Also because there are still some visual bugs and Framerate issues that need to be resolved) A good rule of thumb to remember is that HUGE changes to the game will never take place during the competitive season. Edit Also, if you had been keeping up with patch notes, you would know that Riot has been slowly installing the new map's files piece by piece, to avoid putting us through an absolutely monstrous sized Patch when it is released
It's called Preseason 5.
It is still being worked on and is featured in PBE. You can expect it around Pre-season 5.
they are going to release the new map once the season is over because they "didnt want to confuse players in worlds" once the season ends they will put the new map to work
