Lord Van Dam's Pillager Nerf...

So are we all just going to ignore the straight up gutting of the Pillager on Twisted Treeline? The new passive doesn't feel anything like a suitable replacement...The opposite in fact...

I've prodded around Surrender @ 20, Reign of Gaming, and the Boards and have no context as to why they're nerfing the pillager. Is it to kill Ranged ADC's on Twisted Treeline (And certain melee carries?) ??

Would love some context to these changes...

Now personally I feel they're way too harsh, but I feel like I have a large bias because I main Yasuo and the item is perfect for him on the Treeline.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they did this, it hurts Dominion as well. ADC's buying Pillager will be worse off most of the time (especially since they generally don't even get that much bonus AD). And it's magic damage, meaning you'll do less damage once you have LW (against most targets, anyway). If it had been instant instead of a bleed it would've been much better.

I'm going to experiment with something like Phantom Dancer + Lightbringer + Sanguine Blade, to see if that can replace Pillager on ADCs. It costs a bit more but gives you more AD and more sustain and a good active from Lightbringer. I'm probably going to miss the old Pillager though, I'm not sure why they decided to change it at all, Lightbringer was already doing the whole "crits bleed".

Pillager was added to be a replacement for IE on TT and Dominion, it was basically an IE with a better build path. And now they decided to look at it and they said "Hey, this item loses its passive when upgraded into Pillager, let's change it then!". Seeing how Pillager was meant to be a replacement for IE, why change it? And why magic damage instead of physical damage?

I'm puzzled about this change on Dominion.

Did ADCs really need their damage output reduced?

And why chunk some HP off Bloodmail in favor of HP/5, the most useless stat on the map?

its 3s, they won't give us an answer to ANYTHING that does or doesn't get done. How longdid it take them before they even nerfed teemos timer's on his shrooms?

Does no one else play this map and build this item?

Is there some magical formula to get responses to threads on here?

Or a magical formula that help a Rioter who knows about these changes to respond with Riot's reasoning?

Ok, so feel free to correct my math if you see any issues but this is what i have on the new lord van dams.

80(LordVanDams) + 60(Maw) + 40(LastWhisper) = 180 bonus attack damage. theory crafted build provides damage and defense on a map without a lot of damage items (due to the lack of B.F sword) totals 9300 gold which is a little high for TT but lets go with it.

New lord van Dams: 180(our bonus attack), 200%(normal crit), 200 of 150%(Lord van dams bleed) = 630(total damage after bleed) (current formula) so that means for yas at level 12 with this build he would have: 264(attack) 200%(crit damage) = 528 180(bonus attack) 150%(passive) = 270 528+270= 798

vs the old style

264, 250% = 660

Now the damage alone does not prove this is a great item because A.) its still expensive. and B.) you have to have several items built up before the bleed becomes noticeable. While i dont think all ADC's are going to be viable anymore some will still get really strong with this item. As a side note Yasuo I think will be fine with the change because he can get 100% crit and then poke with his q .

thoughts and opinions? any issues with the math?
